So if Harper knew in advance from the tapes why would he not try to avert a crisis in times of economic crisis? in stead he goes and adds fuel to the flames. Wow this guys more of a slimeball than I thought

Prime Minister’s Office released the tape and pointed to it as proof of an NDP-Bloc conspiracy hatched long before the government produced its fall financial blueprint.

Yeah, but they didn't know until yesterday.

coalition tape can be heard here

http://www.edmontons...30/7585901.html

few other comments I really like

-Its nice to hear that the talks for the creation of a coalition government on behalf of real Canadians is being handled in a temperate and intelligent manner. It reassures me that this isn't just a frantic, knee-jerk movement but a stable assemblage of like-minded individuals working for the greater good. As for the taping and releasing of this private meeting tape, it shows further how low, crass and despicable Machiavelli Harper, I mean Stephen Harper is. What a disgraceful PM we have.

-While Conservative government eavesdropping on oppositions MPs , then who can guarantee they are not listening to those activists and others who are against Conservative policy .

Releasing the tapes will fuel the fire of the "big brother" image that Harper has been labeled with.

With all that is going on around the world, there is too much fire and Harper doesn't have enough water.

I don't remember Canadian politics ever being this dramatic.
I became a vegan the day I watched a video of a calf being born on a factory farm. The baby was dragged from his mother before he hit the ground. The helpless calf strained its head backwards to find his mother. The mother bolted after her son and exploded into a rage when the rancher slammed the gate on her. She wailed the saddest noise I’d ever heard an animal make, and then thrashed and dug into the ground, burying her face in the muddy placenta. I had no idea what was happening; respecting brain chemistry, animal instinct, or whatever. I just knew that this was deeply wrong. I just knew that such suffering could never be worth the taste of milk and veal. I empathized with the cow and the calf and, in doing, my life changed. James McWilliams.

This, besides being completely classless and of dubious legality, is just about the stupidest thing this gov't could have done. I sure hope this gov't falls and soon.

I'm looking forward to hearing who the invited party was.

Um, dramatic and exciting aren't necessarily synonymous, but I guess it's somewhat exciting too, depends on whom you ask. Probably not too exciting for CPC supporters.

Either way, secret tapes, coalition governments... this is not the Ottawa I'm used to.

I wonder by what right they have to eavesdrop on other parties - is this legal?

NDP is considering legal action, but the Conservatives say they were invited to the meeting.

I thought Layton was proud of his historic alignment with a separatist party, soon to be his master in a coalition. Has soemthing changed?
The government should do something.

We should be concerned about a group that is stupid enough to invite their opponent to a confidential meeting and then complain about him attending.

These tapes have served to destroy any legitimacy this 'coalition' might have had so requires a new election, one which will allow electors to choose between the Conservatives and the Union of Socialist and Separatist Republic.

I’m beginning to believe “Harper derangement syndrome” is more than just a catchy phrase.  Those poor ‘progressives’ have snapped due to the undue strain of having to live under a Tory gov’t. and Stephen Harper.
