Organule: Google it!

The best I get is:

n. 1. (Anat.) One of the essential cells or elements of an organ. See Sense organule, under Sense.

Sure don't sound like a virus to me. Perhaps you should give an actual reference, and not just "Google it!"

That be the correct definition, too.

A virus is a package of nucleic acid just enough to synthesize what it needs to penetrate living organisms and replicate itself from them.

I'm aware of what a virus is. Do you even remember what your point was?

No element can be more essential than a package of nucleic acids. For us humans, a virus is not evolving more than a factory or a photocopier. We can empty its content and put in it whatever we want to construct new life forms. So, it is all about our subjective tastes and God is the subjective being par excellence.

This doesn't even make sense, it's an incoherent rambling paragraph. Viruses evolve. Yes, we can pop out their RNA (or in some cases DNA) and put in our own, but then again, we can do the same thing with bacteria.

Do you intentionally try not to make sense, or are you just generally this incoherent?

This thread seems to be about a subject matter too fundamental for you.

It's pretty dumb to say that viruses are not evolving, at a time when epidemiologists around the world are trying to determine if we are at the beginning of a major flu pandemic!

If you're comparing a virus to a photocopier, you haven't even read a basic explanation of what a virus is! Viruses have short lifespans and high mutation rates, so they evolve rapidly, and for that reason they are able to bypass the body's immunity system.

I'm quitting for good this time.  I can't stand most of the people who post here.  Most of what passes for debate is pointless bullshit and retreaded propaganda. And I'm fed up with wasting time trying regain use of the quote feature. Time to move on to somewhere that will match my interests and concerns.

Both betsy and benny ignored the question: why have some bacteria become immune to antibiotics?

When a virus mutes or changes (not evolves), it puts the evolution of life in limbo. Science wants to stop any changes that our human subjectivity would not be able to stand.

Okay, I get it, you're trying to playing some moronic semantics game. Evolution is change the genetic makeup of a population over time. Whether that's a virus, a blue-green algae or a herd of cattle, it's evolution. Trying to redefine words to your own private definitions is a pointless exercise, usually used by those who either have no idea what they're talking about, or by those who seem to dislike words, yet want to invoke the concepts that the word describes.

Viruses do evolve. They evolve through the same mechanisms that all other organisms evolve. What's more, they even more prone to evolve than other organisms. Horizontal gene transfer (just the sort of thing that can happen when a host becomes infected with multiple strains of an influenza virus, thus creating the opportunity for gene exchange between the two strains) is also very common.

You really don't know a damned thing about biology. I'm not even sure you know how to use the English language properly.

Hey, you're the guy who doesn't understand basic terms. It's not my fault you're have no idea what you're talking about.

Tell me, when's the last time you even took a high school biology class? I mean, even at that level, basic concepts like what a virus is, and what evolution is, are covered.

I exited high school in 89. I am going to throw out a really absolutley wild guess that biology has come a very long way since I was in high school.
