Then there is the fact that Horton was at the game 48 hours later. Treatment for a severe concussion is supposed to be plenty of bed rest and no physical activity among other things. A trip to the game appears to show that Horton wasn't hurt as bad as Boston is claiming.
If Horton had gotten up immediately after the hit, then there would have been no penalty/suspension. Either a hit is legal, or illegal whether the person is hurt or not. Until the NHL is willing to accept this, more head injuries will occur.
After reading here and elsewhere about how the Canucks are a dirty/diving team and seeing how many cheap shots, punches after the whistle that Boston is doing, I laugh. Boston is a real dirty team and for their coach to claim he insists on honor or class is hypocrisy at its worst. That said they could win the cup. As long as the refs let the crap and nonsense continue, then the dirtiest team has the advantage as they can hack and punch all they want.

Roberto was a wall when he needed to be which wasn't that often with the D hitting anything that moved. I was happy for Max scoring the goal against his old nemesis, Boston. The Canucks played Thomas just right. Don't give him a lot of shots to feed off of, only 24 instead of 40 the previous game. And the goal came off of a purposely wide shot that Thomas again challenged too much with his aggressive style, and he was too far out to come back and be ready for the carom on the other side.

It's pretty typical for the macho Neanderthal hockey set to blame the victim in these cases.
It's funny how people can bitch about the NHL's apparently random approach to discipline, only to hide behind the league when it suits their interests to do so.
Like those pussies in the NFL who turned that league into a flag football league when they took an aggressive approach to curbing headshots, right?![]()
It would have been a great hit if Horton had the puck. In which case their probably would have been no hit at all.
Rome was backing up, reversed as Horton dished and then stepped into Horton.
Yeah don't blame the guy who put the late hit on him. That'd be crazy.
Yeah, players should avoid entering the attacking zone with speed because guys like Rome simply can't control their impulses.
What kind of cleft-lipped retard would equate trying to keep players from getting their brains scrambled (especially in light of all the recent information about the long-term effects of concussions) with "trying to take hitting out of the game"? It's not the Roman fucking Coliseum here. Use your head (or perhaps you have some first hand personal experience in the scrambled brains matter?)

Yup. Great hit

Yeah that would be his job.

Its not a matter of blame its a matter of common sense. You cant admire your passes when youre cutting across the other teams blue line... If you asked Horton hed tell you the same thing... same goes for any other player.
What kind of cleft-lipped retard

Delivering late hits?

No, it's fucking ignorant when there was no reason for Horton to be on the look out, given how much time elapsed between him passing the puck and Rome making contact.

Delivering hits... a small percentage of which will inevitably be late. In any case... If Rome doesnt finish his check there, he would still be playing in the minors. His job is to hit and hit hard... sometimes when you do that youre going to have this type of incident... It was ruled a foul and hes paying the price for it.

Less than 1 second had elapsed... and 1/2 a second late is allowed. So we are talking about a difference of less than 1/2 a second. Now I know that when youre sitting on your couch watching the game in Moms basement it probably seems to you like Rome could have just let up or timed things differently. But thats just pure fantasy like your assertion that theres "no reason to be on the lookout" when youre cutting across the blue line with speed. Any player on earth will tell you thats a recipe to have a short career. Go talk to Eric Lindros about that.

Agreed. The NHL needs chop down its regular season by a couple of weeks.Just pointing out the sillyness of the National Winter Fuller Sport Leagues nearly ceaseless season....
The NBA starts its season a month AFTER the NHL, plays the same number of games, and has the samenumber of playoff rounds. Yet they've wrapped up their season. And the NHL is still going and going.

And the NHLs fans don't seem to mind.
