I don't care much for the article but was really shocked by all of the comments by the people on the facebook discussions
apparently not baking a cake for lesbians is taking a stand for Jesus
"God" help these people lol

http://radio.foxnews...sbian-cake.html

Pro-gay activists have launched a boycott of an Iowa baker who declined to create a wedding cake for a lesbian couple based on her religious beliefs.

hmmm. If you run a business and you treat prospective customers like crap, word might get around.

But I am sure that our humble baker will become the new folk-heroine of Fox Nation. They will help her out buy deluging her with orders for cakes with little halos and pictures of Tim Tebow and captions that read "Jesus Hates Dykes".

Smart business plan if you ask me. Shes hamming it up for the "Sanctity of religious marriage" crowd, which is damn smart because most those hypocrits get divorced about 5 times and will make good repeat customers.

Wow. You're not big on facts, are you? Just because you disapprove of those who believe in the sanctity of religious marriage doesn't give you the right to make stuff up about them. The funny thing is, you come across as believing you have higher ethics than they do.

Edited to add:

What strikes me as ironic is some of those who criticize the baker for her beliefs regarding gays have no qualms about exhibiting the same sort of prejudice and ugliness towards those who believe in the "sanctity of religious marriage"/Christians.

As I've so often said, you are the same, just the opposite side of the coin.

You could not see humour in what dre posted?

But my two cents : It's a private business, so if they don't want to make a cake for lesbians they don't have to. But it could have been a nice challenge to come up with a lesbo concept for a cake.

So it's ok to make stuff up? It's funny to do so? If someone were to post that Muslims are 5 times more likely to kill innocent people than non-Muslims, you would see humor in that? Guess I must have missed that in your posts. Most likely because you have a very selective sense of humor.

I have never made that claim so I suggest you back it up with proof or retract it. If not, I will report it.

I don't know what claim you want me to back up.

The report button is on the bottom left of the post. Don't threaten me by telling me you are going to do it, just click the button and be done with it.

Well said AW! There's been a lot of anti- Christian bigotry in the forum of late. This particular issue is a tricky one. Because there are conflicting rights of each individual.

I'll "threaten" you if and when I feel the need. Clearly you were implying that I have posted the kind of false claims about Muslims that dre did about people who believe in the sanctity of marriage - that you defended as "humorous."

Of course rather than admit that you have never found such false claims regarding Muslims "humorous," you have to insinuate that I have made such claims. Real big of you, as your hypocrisy shines through more than ever.

Fact is, I have never made false claims about Muslims and you have never found it "humorous" when others have. Reality is, you added validity to my claim, and you can't even see it - making you just more and more like those you criticize.

I wonder how effective a business plan would be if the bakery refused to make cakes for two blacks (heterosexual)?

I'm pretty sure the law would have something to say about that.

I wonder if there is a sliding scale: Whites are just fine, Hispanics won't panic us, Blacks are alright, but gays are right out?

It's just so ironic when someone criticizing her for her religious beliefs has absolutely no qualms about exhibiting the same ugliness towards another entire group - and we're supposed to see that as "humorous." I'd like to know how that's more humorous than, for example, saying: 'in this time of unemployment, at least police officers have job security as more and more Muslims move into our countries - since Muslims murder at 5 times the rate non-Muslims do.'

That would be perceived as real humorous, I'm sure - as those LOLing and criticizing "those who believe in the sanctity of marriage"/Christians would be all over it. And of course rightfully so.

The difference between the refusal to bake a cake for a gay couple and the refusal to bake a cake for heterosexuals based on ethnicity is that the former is based on religious beliefs and the latter is not - it's based solely on prejudice. The law does protect religious beliefs to some degree, while it never protects prejudice. It would be a sticky legal issue; it would be interesting to see what the outcome would be if taken to court.
