This whole thread is ridiculous, as if what happens in the Pennsylvania Congress - one state out of 50 - speaks for the U.S., more specifically the "importance of religion in U.S. politics," representing the direction the U.S. is heading. This thread is evidence of the importance of religion in America to some Canadians, IMO.

Then we have an attempt at one state law 125 years ago brought up as currently representative of a state. I guess that makes all the goofy laws still on the books in provinces representative of those provinces. In other words, "it's not too surprising" that Vancouver would have safe injection sites since the jailer must bring you a beer if you are a drunken debtor who got thrown into jail in B.C.; and since it's illegal for a man to drink with a woman in an Edmonton beer parlor in Alberta, what does that say about Alberta? And of course I have definitive proof that Canadians have an identity problem since it's a national law that every fifth song played on the radio must be by a native born Canadian.

 again a thousand times over.

I guess the OP should have presented you a representative example from New Jersey... or Oklahoma, hey?

As to the idea that Sharia law could never become an issue in America, as some people seem to be suggesting, this case in New Jersey indicates otherwise.

Advocates of Anti-Shariah Measures Alarmed by Judge's Ruling

The issue of Sharia law is going to be on the Oklahoma ballot in November: Sharia (Islamic Law) Not O.K. in Oklahoma

absolutely, most definitely, most assuredly: MLW - the dead board walking!
