I like to see if there's any new arguments. There never are, but I keep hoping against hope that something interesting will happen (which is exactly how I feel when I suffer through a throwball or baseball game).

There are plenty of reasons not to like Soccer, as there are plenty of reasons not to like Hockey, Basketball, American Football or any sport.

There's no objective standard for what makes a sport good or interesting.

Again I would just say that a North American soccer fan using the sport's global appeal to somehow justify it's worth in this part of the world is wrong-headed IMHO.

Not saying that's what you're doing here but some people do just that.

Per the thread title, why does the OP consider soccer a "girl's sport?" What's more, why is that a pejorative term?

As a father of young boys and girls, I agree. It should not be a pejorative at all. And watching Canada's national womens hockey team, I know this to be true. Those chicks can kick ass.

"Girlie-man" sport would be a better term for soccer...

But seriously I don't think it's a bad sport in itself, I admire all athleticism. Only thing I don't like is the hollywood acting by some of those players. It makes me sick,

Also, I lover soccer, but I get that it's not for everyone. What I don't understand is why fans of other sports (like American throwball) feel compelled to run the game down. It says a lot more about them than it does about soccer.

Don't take it personally!

Well, if it's a choice between "girlie men" indulging in a little on field play acting to procure a competitive advantage or "manly men" who rape, murder and hurt animals off the field, I know which I'd choose.

So you're basing your opinion of American Football on players who have been convicted of a crime? That's painting many people with a pretty broad brush wouldn't you say?

Which sport rapes animals?

I'm guessing he's referring to Mike Vick who was convicted for Dog Fighting.

And Steeler QB Ben Roethlisberger was accused of raping two women. He was never charged though.

Sorry fans are clearly the craziest fans of any sport.

Remember the Columbian player that got killed for an Own Goal in the 1994 World Cup.

Never heard of a Hockey Game, Football Game or an MMA match that had to be played in an empty stadium because the fans would attack each other, otherwise. :D

Not really. Between 2000 and 2010, more than 500 NFL players were arrested for charges ranging from drug possession to assault to conspiracy to commit murder. The F in NFL might as well stand for "felony". Oh and that's not even counting incidents like Ben Roethlisberger's and Brett Farve's cock antics, the recent bounty scandal and some of the other wonderful examples of the character of those in the game.

You're clearly racist. Check the racial make-up of those 500 players.

How many Black guys play in the MLS?

Those guys didn't commit any crimes.

Brett Favre sexted someone, if that was a crime horny teenagers everywhere would be in jail.

Big Ben was never charged with anything. He was suspended because of the appearance of bad judgement. Even if he did rape someone, you got one guy. Wanna talk about Kobe Bryant?

Sean Peyton was suspended for the season for overseeing a bounty program, He's not a player and he didn't commit a crime.

BTW what's your thesis BD?

Because Football is a violent sport it breed criminals?

What about Offensive players? Unless there is a turnover they aren't called to be violent at all.

Could it be that giving people from under privileged backgrounds obscene amounts of money can cause problems?

Do you have evidence of boxers and MMA fighters committing crimes all over the world. Those are amongst the world's most violent sports.

I'm not suggesting a casual link between football and criminal or otherwise vile behaviour, just pointing out the correlation.
