Do you understand that the CVF was originally intended to operate the “B” version, and the emphasis has only shifted to the “C” over the last few years?

Do you understand the differing requirements associated with Cat & Trap carriers versus STOVL? What about the increase in Naval platforms the RN/RAF will have accesses with the “B” over the “C”? The Greater interoperability between both the RN & RAF by using the “B” and not requiring the extensive CARQUALS for the pilots as the “C”?

And do you understand the intended usage of the RN’s QE class Aircraft Carriers, and as such, how range and payload won’t be a factor?

And what of the fact that they are switching back to a different version of the F-35? Why not use an alternative aircraft?

What alternative A/C ?? China's super fighter/bomber---- Russia's SU models?
Nothing else will come even close to the F35. I guess it'd be real handy getting parts for those Commie planes

As well, a point which none of the anti-American crowd like to bring up is that there isn't a single conflict in history where Russian aircraft or their Chinese copies came out on top in a straight on fight. Usually, the combat results are disastrous for the side with Russian machines.

One poster here, I forget who, pointed to May 10th, 1972 as a victory of Russian machines over American. That day was so bloody for the North Vietnamese that they never recovered for the rest of the war...lol. I think it was because it was the day Duke Cunningham and Willy Driscoll got shot down after scoring numerous MiG kills.

Indeed, it was from a (well done) documentary done by the BBC on one of the last deployments of the Ark Royal and many of the personalities in the film were ~5-6 years later aboard HMS Hermes and HMS Invincible on their excursion down South…….

One has to wonder if the Ark (and Eagle in ‘72) weren’t laid up, if the RN would have needed to make a trip down to the South Atlantic……..Under the adage of walk softly and carry a big stick.

Indeed, and though not a Sopwith Camel, here's a intresting video of the last real Ark Royal and the difficulties associated with Cat & Trap operations:

It was......the Doc was called Sailor and it covered everything (My father, ex-FAA, has a copy on VHS)…….Including the Bucc’s at a weapons range in the Caribbean…….IIRC Rod Stewart and/or Pink Floyd did the soundtrack. Not sure if they made a DVD version.

what was that title again... oh ya, 'embarrassing U-turn'... one you think will have no bearing on the overall program. Of course you do.

lol...ok...so this is a situation like when these same posters try to tell BC-2004 how nuclear subs operate.

ya ya, wasn't BC-2004s expertise focused on dipping thermometers and taking temperature measurements? But did the swabby use insulated or uninsulated buckets?

yes, yes it is jingoistic chest thumping... Look, I appreciate you're taking a real hit when discussion actually centers on the F-35 overdue, over-budget and over-hype, but really, c'mon, I thought you agreed to keep the jingo chest thumping over in your dedicated 'fav aircraft' thread, hey!

Care to highlight how the British order of F-35s going from the “B” version, to the “C” version then back to the “B” will effect the JSF program overall, and the Canadian purchase of the “A” version directly or indirectly?
