So I hear he is coming home. So what will happen?
IMO
1- Large hero's parade in toronto.
2- He will sue and collect 10 million.
3- He will be hosting his own show on the CBC.
Did I miss anything?

Correct me if I'm wrong but did the same people coming down on Omar do the same to the US Johnny Walker, who was 20 and went o jail but soon will be out with time served? If the US or NATO can kill innocent people in these two wars, and not have anyone go to jail, than why the outrage? Until he does something against Canadian law, people should just leave him alone when he is released from jail but I don't doubt someone will try to take him out before long.

He'll be charged with something new, like treason, and go to jail.

My mistake for not seeing the other, but back to this, he left canada and went to afghanistan knowing he could be killing canadina soldiers, and yes he should be charged with treason the minute he arrives.

The Canadian Armed Forces were not in Afghanistan yet.

He went - at 7 years of age - because his father took him.

If those are your 'facts' your conclusion isn't valid.

How so?

Again ... CAF was not in afghanistan at that time.

Also ... stop and think ... if Canada tried to bring any NEW charges against Omar, it would bring up the whole issue of him being a minor at the time.
It would be a media circus, and keep in mind that the Supreme Court has already ruled that the government violated Omar's rights by not intervening to bring him home (as EVERY other country did with their Guantanamo inmates, all of whom were adults, while Omar was still underage.

Look at the ongoing debates we have had here on this issue ... Do you really think Harper wants to dredge all of this up in the media again? I doubt it very much. He'll want to keep it all as quiet as possible.

After mulling it over for a long time, however, I do believe that Omar's parents should be held legally accountable for putting their minor son in harm's way. Since his father is dead, it would be his mother, and I don't think she should get off the hook completely. If it could be argued that she was under the control of the father and powerless, so be it, but I think the issue should be aired.

I used the wrong words ,lets do this over ,we went in 2001-2, he was captured in 02, weapons he made could have ended up killing canadians and the fact that if he was not caught then he could have killed more candadians. The only reason they wanted to have kids here ,becasue they know they can always come back between battles, get some health care and a rest and then back at it. Pretty sad ,when now in canada we fighting over people that wanted to do our fellow canadians harm ,so fucking sad. One of his brothers made it clear he wanted nothing to do with them. He got drafted by the wrong team, now it is time to pay the piper.

He should be deported immediatly, all rights revoked when it comes to being a Canadian Citizen same day he arrives.. He should be travelling alone as his Sisters and Mother should be awaiting counts for Treason.. Simple as that..

Where would you deport him to, he was born in Toronto, is a Canadian citizen and did not make false application for citizenship? He gets the same rights as any Canadian citizen, which is due process under Canadian law, assuming he breaks a Canadian law..
The government should do something.
