I kind of figured you would post again without learning.

You are not only wrong, but dead wrong. Want to try a third time?

Seeing as Clifford Olson was given the possibility of parole I don't see where you can go.

Prove it?

Sure, I'll prove it.

A life sentence for murder which does not mean life?

Or

Life sentence with possibility of parole in 25 year/=life sentence.

life sentence with out parole==life sentence...

Keep posting and I will have more proof

At some point it stops being punishment, and it starts being prevention. I don't want this guy punished, I want him off the streets so that next time its not me or my family or friends in the car he destroys. He has shown that he is not and cannot be a productive member of society, how many chances does a POS like this have? 2 or 3 or 40? This guy's life has been nothing but a long crime spree.

The best and cheapest prevention is rehabilitation. As I said, long periods of closely monitored parole with support. If he fails, he goes back to prison. Prisons should not be punitive but rehabilitative.

Not to diminish physical pain, but frankly go ahead and break my nose. I will be fine in a week. Take all my money and thats going to hurt me more.

I think you are right in implying that if there is no physical violence then judges are much more lenient.

Life sentence means you die in prison, anything else, e.g. possibility of parole is NOT I say again NOT a life sentence in anything but name.

Can a prison possibly justify treating its inmates with saunas, sunbeds and deckchairs if that prison has the lowest reoffending rate in Europe? Live reports from Norway on the penal system that runs contrary to all our instincts - but achieves everything we could wish for

Is there a problem? You do know he never got it.

I don't know about you, by I suddenly feel the need to commit a crime in Norway. That sounds better then my last vacation to Cuba, and I paid a ton of money for that.

Yes, and once again, you earned an F .

Contrary to what you feel , as if that has any bearing on your assertions, once given a life sentence, you have a life sentence and are under the control of the Justice system for life.

Irrelevant, there is the possibility therefore it is not a life sentence. This is reserved for few people, you think this career criminal will be dubbed a dangerous offender? Doubt that, he will be 53 when he is up for parole, and if he plays his cards right then he will be right out for another crack at us.

So , all this time, you never availed yourself of the facts, but instead how you feel about this?

To answer your question, yes! You are forever (as in Life? Get it) under the auspices of the Feds penal system.

Ok so in your argument is that 100% of all those who are handed a life in prison sentence die in prison because it means life? Is that what you mean? Because I sure would LOVE to see those statistics.

They're under supervision the rest of their lives. Recidivism for murder is very low <3%.

This is one of many examples as to why we need a complete overhaul of our justice system.

Ok, you answered the first question but how many examples are there really ? Isn't this more emotionally-fuelled politics about something that is by all accounts supposed to be a dispassionate process ? We do call it a 'system' right ?

What do you want to do, have longer sentences ? How long will make you happy ? If somebody runs somebody over due to criminal negligence is 20 years enough ? Life ?

We saw the logical end of this types of politics with Harris' ridiculous boot camps and California's 3-strikes law. It's a salve to the political problem, IMO, not a social problem.
