Waaaaaahhhhhhh Samsung is destroying us smartphone sales. Let's sue em!!!!

http://www.thestar.com/business/article/1234036--apple-samsung-to-face-trial-by-jury-billions-at-stake

Jury selection is scheduled to begin on Monday morning in a high stakes patent battle between Apple Inc and Samsung Electronics Co Ltd, the culmination of over a year of pretrial jousting with billions of dollars in the balance.

Apple and Samsung, the world’s largest consumer electronics corporations, are waging legal war around the world, accusing each other of patent violations as they vie for supremacy in a fast-growing market for mobile devices.

The fight began last year when Apple sued Samsung in a San Jose, California federal court, accusing the South Korean company of slavishly copying the iPhone and iPad. Samsung countersued.

The stakes are high, with Samsung facing potential U.S. sales bans of its Galaxy smartphones and tablet computers, and Apple in a pivotal test of its worldwide patent litigation strategy.

Apple will try to use Samsung documents to show its rival knowingly violated the iPhone maker’s intellectual property rights, while Samsung argues Apple is trying to stifle competition to maintain “exorbitant” profit, according to court filings.

A 10-member jury will hear evidence over at least four weeks, and it must reach a unanimous decision for Apple or Samsung to prevail on any of their claims.

That the jurors will hail from Silicon Valley, where Apple is an icon and major employer, will be something for Samsung to consider during the jury selection, said James Dobson, a jury consultant with Empirical Creative.

Yes because everything Apple has developed over their tenure as a software/hardware developer has been 100% Original.

Samsung just does what Apple does better. The Galaxy S2 and S3 have features that Apple users can only dream of. The iPhone is playing catch up.

I believe Apple has lost a few of these patent lawsuits in Europe recently.

Yeah but they were able to halt sales of the Galaxy Tablet in the US. Apparently they won in Germany too.

I'm reading up on some of Apples claims. I can think of several things Samsung Phones currently have that Apple phones don't have but they're copying Apple because it fits into one hand and has pages and apps in a grid format.

It's like one maker of a Fridge suing another because the their product has a compressor and a door.

The Samsung Galaxy is the only phone I'd think about switching to from my iPhone.

It's far better than the iPhone. In fact the Galaxy S3 is currently better than what rumours say the iPhone 5 will be.

I have a Samsung and I'm not in love with it, by any means. I don't like that the merest brush of a finger winds up making a phone call to people. And I don't like that it won't turn off any more when I charge it. I also don't like all the spelling mistakes I make on its glass touch screen when typing. I'm thinking a phone with 100% surface screen might not be all its cracked up to be, and looking seriously at a Blackberry.

As to Apple, they're not an option for anything. I dislike their controlling attitude and their belief they should get to decide what I watch, see, do and hear on my equipment.

My Samsung: The Galaxy S2 actually has force feedback vibration when you touch an imaginary button to give you the feel of actually touching a button. You also have a feature on these phones called swype where you can actually draw the word on the keyboard. It's pretty cool.

Touch Screens are where it's at right now. In fact I've read the first BB10 phones will be touchscreen. Phones with actual keyboards are a dying breed.

Also on my phone I have to press at least two buttons to make a call, most likely three, not to mention unlock my lock screen so I don't know how you can have such a problem with pocket dialing.
