This is pretty awesome, actually. The Obama critics have now all been outgunned; this is the new Gold Standard.

:)

"Back in my country, my president," Mustaine begins and then pretends to gag himself with his finger, "is trying to pass a gun ban so he's staging all of these murders. The 'Fast and Furious' thing down at the border. And Aurora, Colorado, all the people that were killed there. And now, the beautiful people at the Sikh temple."

“There is a limit to how much we can constantly say no to the political masters in Washington. All we had was Afghanistan to wave. On every other file we were offside. Eventually we came onside on Haiti, so we got another arrow in our quiver."

First Ted Nugent and now Dave Mustaine... the Republicans have this election in the bag.

"History I believe furnishes no example of a priest-ridden people maintaining a free and civil government. This marks the lowest grade of ignorance, of which their political as well as their religious leaders will always avail themselves for their own purpose."

Interestingly, I saw your typed word "Nugent" and my eye was instantly drawn to "teenage sex" in your signature...coincidental, but quite apt, if you know anything about Nugent's sexually....um...controversial past. (*cough* thirteen year old *cough*)

No, the Gold Standard is Obama supporter Harry Belafonte asserting that civilization will end if Romney's elected! D'oh!

Well, no...we're talking about a man who believes that Obama is actually behind all the murders, a sort of American Reichstag fire if you will.

That remains the clear winner. Bellafonte doesn't even come close; heck, even the birthers sound sane by comparison.

I'm not sure how the link is related to your post, unless the Belafonte story is buried in there somewhere.

As to the linked story itself, incidentally...there was much better Jewish support for Reagan (though still a definite minority).

Jewish people vote Democrat; American Jews tend to be liberal or further left than what is normally deemed "liberal." And have been for many, many decades.

That's not going to change anytime soon.

While Belafonte didn't exactly say what you say he said, the GOP position on climate change is certainly rolling the dice on the sustainability of civilization.

Mustaine can shred. But he's pretty much an idiot. A hardcore born-again Christian too.

Will liberal metalheads burn his CD's etc. since he doesn't support the president?

When asked if he would like to see Romney become the next president, Belafonte responded: "Only if I would like to see the end of civilization. No, absolutely not. Mitt Romney is not my cup of tea at all."

Yep, that's equivalent to what Mustaine said.

Plus the only reason he was adked that question is because he had just given a blistering criticism of Obama. Normally that would be what Shady would be quoting, but he feels uncomfortable quoting anything in context.

It was a ridiculous response on Shady's part. When talking politics, people engage in all sorts of hyperbolic rhetoric, and the old crooner was having at it in the normal tradition.

But claiming conspiracy theories about the President being behind the recent spate of murders--for political gain, so that he can outlaw guns--is a completely different level.

I think the fact we are talking about some crazy claims made by a musician at a concert says more about us than it does him. Dave is an awsome musician, but hes also a hard-core conspiracy theorist going back years not to mention a heroin addict.

I guess Im wondering why his opinion on politics even warrants discussion. We seem to have this obsession with everything actors, actresses and musicians have to say about any topic.

I tend to agree. His opinion regarding politics matter as much to me as Harry Bellafonte's, or Cher's or Sean Penn's. They've all said some pretty ridiculous things. When I go see a Sean Penn movie, I go to see him as a great actor, not as a well-reasoned political commentator. I'm also trying to figure out why a metal band's lead singer's view are at all worthy of dicussion. He's obviously not operating with a full deck, so-to-speak.
