Meaningless, Uninformative Thread Titles

This is not helpful to posters and does not reflect well on the forum. It's an invitation to directionless rants.
Greg, I suggest that when you find such a thread title, you simply delete the thread. If you do this once or twice, the problem will stop.

We currently have three thread titles that indicate nothing about the thread's discussion.
This is not helpful to posters and does not reflect well on the forum. It's an invitation to directionless rants.

I am not too sure what you mean.... Can you explain?
Agreed. This is indeed a large problem and it will hopefully solved when I have the assistance of a few Forum Facilitators.
Please stay tuned to the News and Announcement section for more information.
Thanks!
I still do not understand... Can you give me an example?
Seriously, I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE JUST QUOTE THE WHOLE PREVIOUS MESSAGE IN THEIR REPLIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHAT ARE THEY THINKING????!?!!!!!????!!!!????
People stop! Enough already!

Greg or Charles, is there a way for the original poster of a thread to change the thread title? I supposed in another thread that there was - some other discussion forums make such changes possible -, but as far as I can see, from having begun a topic myself, there isn't. If there isn't, are there plans to enable this feature in the future?Agreed. This is indeed a large problem and it will hopefully solved when I have the assistance of a few Forum Facilitators.

For the time being, use the Report function to indicate what the correction should be. If you are the creator of the thread, the correction will be made as soon as we check the messages.Greg or Charles, is there a way for the original poster of a thread to change the thread title?
The new Forum Facilitators will likely have the privilege of receiving those Reports as well. Thus, such errors could be corrected with minimal delay.
I do not know.I supposed in another thread that there was - some other discussion forums make such changes possible -, but as far as I can see, from having begun a topic myself, there isn't. If there isn't, are there plans to enable this feature in the future?

If my lame attempt at injecting irony and sarcastic humor in post #3 up above has gone over like a lead zeppelin, please, just ignore it. .

Back specifically to the query of the Opening Post, Greg's reply does not explicitly identify whether he agrees to the suggested remedy or not.
I will be sure to clarify this issue with him.

I am not too sure what you mean.... Can you explain?
Here's a recent example: Startling News
Here's another one: I was disgusted...

Yes, it should be a banning offense. Maybe even a drawing and quartering offence. After all, if someone still has dialup, it may take a whole 5 seconds to find out what the topic is about. We're all busy people and time is money, and money is the root of...well never mind... Btw, how long did it take to make the complaining post?I am not too sure what you mean.... Can you explain?

I didn't suggest banning. I argued in favour of deleting the thread.Yes, it should be a banning offense.

If we delete this thread instead, can we pass one of the others? Why would you want to delete threads just because it takes an extra second of tittilating curiosity to see what it's about?I didn't suggest banning. I argued in favour of deleting the thread.Yes, it should be a banning offense.

Personally, I would not want to make any changes to the those two recent examples identified in post #6 up above for one reason only: to illustrate what NOT to do. If you can call that "pass one of the others" so be it.If we delete this thread instead, can we pass one of the others?
The irony is that this thread was opened over a year ago and we now have (at least) two RECENT examples of threads with non-descriptive titles degenerating rapidly into directionless rants.

Yes, no doubt due entirely to the non-descriptive titles. No other threads degenerate in quite the same way.Personally, I would not want to make any changes to the those two recent examples identified in post #6 up above for one reason only: to illustrate what NOT to do. Scott, give it a break.Yes, no doubt due entirely to the non-descriptive titles. No other threads degenerate in quite the same way.
First, at thsi very moment, I want to dispute one of your claims and I don't know where to find your post. (It's a religious thread about Islam. Your ridiculous thread titles make it difficult to find. I'm still looking.)
Second, imagine curious lurkers faced with a panoply of threads (or Google searchers incorrectly directed). How would they know where to click?
Between completely random diarrhea and anal retentive precision, surely we can have a compromise.Could someone do something about thetitle of this thread......perhaps change it to:
Things that annoy Anal Retentives or such......then I could have avoided it all together...

You shouldn't get in the habit of disputing my claims. It's easier to don a hair shirt and flagellate yourself on a rockstrewn pilgrimage to the Holy Land, since it involves a great deal less humiliation for youScott, give it a break.Yes, no doubt due entirely to the non-descriptive titles.
