It's possible because the overhead won't be nearly as high. But at least it'll be more convenient.

It would vary.

LCBO has artificially inflated foreign wines by paying more than what they are worth so they can sell it for a higher price.  They have some sort of restriction on how much more then can charge than their purchase price.

The cheapest beer would see no drop in price, because the cheapest price is regulated by the government but, more expensive options could drop in price.

We do have the right to not shop at the LCBO and brew our own... Can't distill but home brewing methods can still get strong drinks.  Just not distilled strong (which is then watered down most of the time in mix anyways)

Aren't you just a ball of fun!

Well, it's true though.  If you rely on drinking alcohol to have a good time, that is the definition of alcoholic :) Reliance on alcohol.

There are wineries in Quebec where they do all the work but the customer must do the final bottling. It works out to about $4/bottle for the equivalent of $10 SAQ "product elaborated in Quebec" wine.

They have lots of those places in Ontario too.  Fermenting is so easy.  I brew my own hard cider (considered one of the easiest things to home brew).  Pour juice/cider into fermentation bucket, add yeast and seal, wait 7-10 days, bottle with some sort of sugar to carbonate, wait a minimum of 3-4 weeks, drink up..

Because, I didn't want to leave the house early on a Sunday just to pick up some beer. Getting in the car and stuff.

Now if they sold it at Convenience store, I could have walked across the street.

I actually thought the store I was going to would close at 6. Didn't occur to me it'd close at 5. Again I probably should have checked. But regardless there should have been other options.

Even Wine Racks at Grocery stores have to close at 5 or 6 even though the grocery stores they are located in might stay open until 9.

Are you going to argue that they need to keep their dry cleaning open late too?

It's a minor inconvenience...  you don't need to drink to have a good time.  If you do, you are an alcoholic.

Totally agree !!     I see no reason why we can't pick up a bottle of wine or some beer in the grocery store, or the local Daisy Mart as you can in the U.S.  It sure makes shopping a lot easier and saves on gas which should make the environmentalists happy.

Thank goodness we no longer have to fill in a form and a number to get a bottle (younger people might not remember that).

Going out today to pick up a bottle of Vodka and a bottle of Rum, large ones as we are having a family do next week.   Fortunately we make our own wine so are well stocked there.

You can buy wine in a grocery store. I pass it as I walk out of Zehrs.

Excuse me? We have technology because a corporation developed it into a money making product. Governments can be important in funding initial R&D but the end solutions which people can actually use are due entirely to corporations. The touch screen tablet computer is the most recent example - this revolution was entirely driven by Apple and the myriad of profit seeking corporations that develops apps for the platform.

Actually, most technology that started the process was invented because someone was trying to make their life easier. Most of the people who actually spent time inventing things in the 20th century did not end up filthy rich.  They did so to further science, to further knowledge, and to make a name for themselves.

The perversion that conservatives push, the idea that advancement only comes through greed, is just not a reality.  Our economy pushes products that break sooner, and on purpose to ensure that people need to keep buying products.

ALSO - touch screen tablets have been around since before Apple's products.  Apple is just better at convincing people that they need them.
