Topics I've Started

The many sects of Islam, so, which will dominate eventually?

http://www.theglobea...rticle12024147/

Sunni? Shia?

I seemingly read this sort of thing and have for years. "

"Wave of attacks hits Shia and Sunni areas of Iraq, killing at least 57"

Kurds are targeted too.Have been for generations.

Then there's a lesser known sect I've been aware of that have been outcasts for generations..the Suffis regarded as even more heretical than kafirs

Not many here have studied religions particularly what is behind, the cause, history for the violence and hate between various sects of Islam.

Personally I believe the cause to be the same old cause of human history, the political seeking of power. I believe that exceeds any religious agenda.

Is the fact that Muslims have and are murdering each other (SEE ARAB SPRING_SEE SYRIA_ SEE EGYPT_ SEE HAMAS _FATAH), really any different than human history through the centuries for power?

Well it might be just a bit considering that many of those violent events in religious convictions are seemingly conducted by 'peaceful" religions.

Were and are these religious battles really for peace? Are religions peaceful?

Well, most of the contemporary 'religions" of today have evolved to peaceful solutions excepting I would suggest for one conspicuously still devoted to violence and a need for power.

Note; I reference RELIGIONS, not countries.

Countries that seem to have had any aspirations for expansion don't profess it to be a religious process as for example religiously ,Shia states as Iran- Syria- opposed by  religiously Sunni states, all of course following a religion of peace.(not.)

Sadly the citizens suffer regardless the nature and target of the sectarian violence. Is that not always the way?

Witness the murders of Jews , Gypsies, etc. as an aftermath of Hitler's grab for Hitlers living space (Lebensraum), it is the innocent that die when the pious seek religious or other desires for power.

Christians suffer in Egypt for no reason, Suffis elsewhere for no reason, the innocent Bahá'í elsewhere all while the bigots and followers of religion claim to be peaceful. Has it not always been so?

Power. Greed, Avarice

Peace? Not by a hair ona chinny chin chin...

Judging the author, subject or content by context and fixation.

15 June 2013 - 07:58 AM

Here, there, or in between ethics on  moral ground.

When I read an author-group-source- or org. that focuses singularly on an issue or subject beyond what one might consider to a normal or reasonable degree I tend to consider the sources biased, slanted, fanatically obsessed or uninformed.

A couple of examples might be the church orgs. that want to put bans on products made in Israel(That employ Arabs btw) yet ignore totally those countries like Saudi Arabia that still have virtual slavery. Those that choose to Ignore those countries, some Arab countries that murder their citizens by the thousands. That ignore the atrocities perpetrated on gays in Arab countries, in Gaza controlled by Arab Hamas, in Iran (hanging gays I have read), while  Israel, a democracy gives gays free reign, parades even.

Consider:

The UN where the "Human Rights Council has adopted more resolutions condemning Israel than it has all other states combined.[1] From 1967 to 1989 the UN Security Council adopted 131 resolutions directly addressing the Arab–Israeli conflict."Ignoring for the most part the Arab violence against Jews -Christians-Kurds.

The Unions like CUPE that votes to censure Israel ignoring the abuses in other countries, some Arab atrocities year after year.

..........and the odd poster here that with an apparent agenda suggesting to me near anti-Semitism, that unreasonably focuses constantly on Israeli Jews yet ignores the thousands being killed by other countries, some Arab countries there deprived of the freedom Arabs have in Israel, or ignoring by  exception sectarian murders of Shia by Sunni and Sunni by Shia that go on and on and on for generations.

One can ONLY assume the author(s) of such obsession are unable to put things in perspective in our world, and must time after time return to hate and vitriolic spewing of much exaggeration, elaborate falsehoods and spinning of fact to the absence of any accounting of the Arab history and continuing violence.

Now, I think it reasonable to assume that those that focus ONLY on one small democratic country with fault after fault, time after time ad infinitum, cannot be other than rabid agitators hoping to incite ani-Jewish hate in a single purpose of mind set.

I'm so glad they can spew their venom openly as did Joseph Goebbels for Adolph with the final solution seemingly still a goal by some like Iran and other detractors even here perhaps.

How do you picture them ?

I see a swastika behind them all. Maybe it's only me. I see storm troopers marching goose step. I see seig heil salutes. I hear

NEVER AGAIN!

"Your mission, should you decide to accept it"

12 June 2013 - 12:50 PM

Is to come up with a positive that Quebec has or will add to Canada.

I'll start,

http://news.national...om-prohibition/

"a national referendum in 1898, one of only four in our history. And whoa, it was a close one, with 51.2% voting in favour of prohibition. So that’s how we got national prohibition. But wait a second! We didn’t get national prohibition! But why? Well, you know how they go on about voter apathy these days? Turns out only 44% voted in this referendum. If that wasn’t bad enough, guess how Quebec voted? 81% AGAINST prohibition of course. So, it was essentially booze-lovin’ Quebec against the rest of the country. Laurier sure didn’t need the hassle of an angry, sober Quebec."

YEA! I'll drinkeepoo to that.

Vive le Québec

McGuinty fades to yellow. (With pension and smirk)

12 June 2013 - 08:35 AM

So now our dear McGuinty, who we all love and admire, (even the NDP won't stand for us), will now try his best to fade into the sunset. Yeh right, with billions pissed away, and we faced with an astronomical debt and a raise in taxes to cover his parties likely provable malfeasance.

Retire!!! Tar and feather would have been the way his behavior would have once been handled. As for the NDP, I have never been so disallusioned as now with their party complicit in the Liberals avoiding a vote.

He gets his pension, we get the shaft , his debts.

OK the Conservatves may lack a high profile leader, but certainly they are the only choice we can support.

The Liberals don't deserve anything but a trial and jail (for some ) and disgust and humiliation at best for many in the know  others.
