The Thread title should be descriptive and accurate. Hiding these stories behind a vague post title is kind of dishonest don't you think?

Legalize Pot! Says Pat Robertson
27 December 2010 - 11:15 AM
I think that if the religious right backs legalization of pot, it is going to happen soon. They have always been a huge obstruction, but if they listen to Pat Robertson...

It's a Christmas miracle. Conservative minister Pat Robertson made a surprising declaration on a recent episode of The 700 Club: He disagrees with the continued criminalization of marijuana. "I'm not exactly for the use of drugs, don't get me wrong, but I just believe that criminalizing marijuana, criminalizing the possession of a few ounces of pot... it's costing us a fortune and it's ruining young people," Robertson said in the broadcast. "Young people go into prisons-they go in as youths-and come out as hardened criminals and that's not a good thing." Robertson made the remarks in response to a group of conservatives that has launched a campaign called "Right on Crime", which aims to reduce the number of people in prison by encouraging community drug-rehabilitation programs and "taking crimes off the books that aren't really crimes".

Flaherty can't even balance his office budget
08 December 2010 - 10:11 AM
Flaherty breached Treasury Board guidelines by overspending by more than $430,000 last year, according to government documents.
Flaherty spent $2,868,222 on his ministerial office in 2009-10, while Treasury Board rules cap spending for ministers with extra regional responsibility and a parliamentary secretary at $2,437,370.
"I'm amazed," said Liberal Treasury Board critic Siobhan Coady. "If you can't control your own budget for your own department, how can we be assured that you are going to control the budget for the whole country?"
