Submit Your Questions for an Interview with Major General (Ret) Lewis Mackenzie

Mapleleafweb is scheduled to do an interview with Major General (Ret.) Lewis Mackenzie, former Canadian Armed Forces general and writer. We are providing visitors to Mapleleafweb the opportunity to submit potential questions to General Mackenzie.

The topic of the interview will be general military affairs and issues relating to Canada's role as a peace-keeper. Your questions can be emailed directly to me, or you can post the questions in this weblog posting. To post your questions below, you will need to register or login.

Your questions can be submitted until Wednesday, January 23rd, after which I will select three (or more) interesting questions and include them in the batch asked to General Mackenzie. The interview will appear in the Interviews section of Mapleleafweb.

Any off-topic or disrespectful postings or questions in this weblog thread will be deleted.

Update: Go to the forums to read some of the questions submitted by the forum members.

Update 2: The interview went very well, and I'll be posting the full interview transcript shortly.

New Cartoonists on Maple Leaf Web!

I would like to welcome two new cartoonists to Mapleleafweb. Political cartoons by Graeme MacKay from MacKay Cartoons, and J.J. McCullough from Filibuster Cartoons are going to be appearing in our Political Cartoons section - with new cartoons being posted daily.

Feel free to leave a comments - whether relating to the cartoon, or the topic of the cartoon - in the comments section directly below the cartoon.

Website Errors and Deleted Login Accounts

For some reason the MySQL database that it used to run the back end of Maple Leaf Web was throwing an error during the past few days. This error didn't seem to cause any issue with displaying the website content or forums - and no website data was lost - however there was some issues with viewing the front page of Maple Leaf Web.

The error appears to have been caused by a corrupt cache, and once the cache was clear, everything returned to normal. However, when attempting to diagnose the problems, a few user accounts were accidentally deleted.

If you were one of the accounts that was deleted, I apologize. Please feel free to register with Maple Leaf Web again.

Note: forum member accounts were not affected, only general user accounts.

A long list of important links have been posted to the Federal Elections section of the Voter Almanac. Links to official political party websites (both major and minor), partisan blogrolls, government websites, and other important election resources have been added.

If you have any suggestions on other links that should be included, please forward them to me.

You may see website errors while we migrate all the content over from the old Mapleleafweb website to the new Mapleleafweb website. If you see an error, please report it.

We hope to have everything migrated over and have all the kinks ironed out of the new system by early fall of 2007.

Maple Leaf Web Beta Launch!

We are right in the middle of launching the new design of Maple Leaf Web. The redesign not only includes a new look for Maple Leaf Web, but also a massive rewrite of the features and spotlights. We are manually going through ever single feature, spotlight and backgrounder to ensure that everything is up to date and relevant.

For the next few weeks you may encounter errors or some out of date content. We ask that you are patient while we tackle this massive undertaking.
