Biography

Brian Doody joined Maple Leaf Web in September 2006 as a contributing writer. He received his BA from Saint Mary’s University (Halifax,); MA from Queen’s University (Kingston); LLB and BCL from McGill University (Montréal); and Certificat en français écrit (C.Fr.Écr.) from the Université du Québec à Montréal (Montréal). In addition to his contributions at Maple Leaf Web, Brian is currently working on his PHD at the Université de Montréal (Montreal) and is a Lecturer in the Department of Political Science at the University of Western Ontario (London, Ontario). From 1988-94, he worked in various departments and agencies in the Government of Canada (Ottawa). Brian’s areas of interest include Quebec provincial politics, Canadian politics, electoral statutes, voting-system reform, and election candidate procedures. His recent publications include “The Liberal minority and the prospect of an early dissolution of Parliament.” in Policy Options (September 2004), and “Twenty Years after René Lévesque Failed to Change the Electoral System, Quebec May Be Ready to Act.” in Steps Toward Making Every Vote Count: Electoral System Reform in Canada and Its Provinces (2004).
