Biography

Harold Jansen is the Senior Content Editor at Mapleleafweb. He is an Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Lethbridge, in Lethbridge, Alberta. Educated at the University of Alberta (B.A. 1989, Ph.D. 1998) and Carleton University (M.A. 1990), he joined the faculty at the University of Lethbridge in 1998. His research interests include Canadian politics, political parties, elections, electoral systems, Alberta politics, and political party finance.

Since 2004, Harold has been part of a SSHRC-funded research team investigating the impact of changes to political party financing regulation introduced in 2004. Recent publications include “Making the Impossible Possible: Electoral Reform in Canada’s Provinces” in Braving the New World (4th ed.), and “Altering the Political Landscape: State Funding and Party Finance” in Canadian Parties in Transition (3rd ed.)
