Biography

Melanee Thomas is a Ph.D student in Political Science at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. She earned her BA (Political Science) from the University of Lethbridge in 2003 and her MA (Political Science) in 2006 from the University of Calgary. Melanee's Master's thesis, The Political Disengagement of Canada's Young Women, examined gender differences in political interest, knowledge, internal efficacy, and participation of 18 to 25 year old Canadians. Her current research examines gender differences in vote choice in Canada, the United States, and Europe. Melanee's other research interests include political behaviour, research methodology, political finance, and media politics. 

Melanee was the New Democratic Party (NDP) candidate for the Lethbridge constituency in both 2004 and 2006. She is currently the National Graduate Caucus representative to the National Executive of the Canadian Federation of Students.
