David Karwacki was elected Leader of the Saskatchewan Liberal Party in 2001. Currently, he does not hold a seat in the Saskatchewan legislature.

The Saskatchewan Liberals dominated provincial politics for the first 40 years of the province’s history. More recently, however, they have been much less successful, failing to win any seats in either the 2003 or 2007 provincial elections. Regardless, Karwacki remains at the helm of the party, advocating strong career opportunities for Saskatchewan residents, ensuring homes for families, and building a network of community leaders across the province for good governance.

In 1990, Karwacki and three business partners founded Star Produce, Ltd., an international fresh produce distribution company. The company has grown to employ more than 200 employees in North America. Karwacki has served as both CEO and COO of the company. He has also been actively involved in community life in Saskatchewan. Karwacki has served as President of the University of Saskatchewan Huskie Alumni Association, and was a founding board member of the University of Saskatchewan Athletic Endowment Fund.

Raised in Saskatoon, Karwacki has lived in Saskatchewan his entire life. He attended the University of Saskatchewan, graduating in 1989 from the College of Commerce. While attending university, he was a member of the University of Saskatchewan Huskie basketball team, competing in national championships. He has also undertaken studies in continuing business education through the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and more recently Stanford University. Karwacki is married to Laurie. They have four children: Jonathan, Alix, Sarah, and Luke.
