  1. I have been wearing a mask in public (and limiting my trips) since March 2020 when this whole thing went down.

I’m not sure how being considerate to others for the common good is now being mocked by some who are calling it “living in fear” or that I am brainwashed, but it needs to stop....

When I wear a mask over my nose and mouth in public and in the stores/Supermarkets/Pharmacies/Offices - I want you to know the following:

    * I'm educated enough to know that I could be asymptomatic and still give you the virus.

*No, I don't "live in fear" of the virus; I just want to be part of the solution, not the problem.

    * I don't feel like the "government controls me". I feel like I'm an adult contributing to the security in our society and I want to teach others the same.

*I am not brainwashed, I am educated, reading the scientific information and listening to reliable scientists (not persons with no qualifications to make any scientific conclusions)

    * If we could all live with the consideration of others in mind, the whole world would be a much better place.

    * Wearing a mask doesn't make me weak, scared, stupid or even "controlled". It makes me caring and responsible.

*When you think about your appearance, discomfort, or other people's opinion of you, imagine a loved one - a child, father, mother, grandparent, aunt, uncle or even a stranger - placed on a ventilator, alone without you or any family member allowed at their bedside.....

Ask yourself if you could have helped them a little by wearing a mask.

I think many right-wing people are pretty ok, they just don't happen to be on this forum, for the most part.

  2. The left thinks they know what is good for society, whether we like it or not.

And now they think they can use Covid-19 as a lever for instilling government control over our everyday lives. All are slaves to Big Bro.

Yup.  We wouldn't have to do this if the right wasn't composed of people who put their personal convenience over the safety and well-being of their society, neighbors, friends and loved ones.

See the first reaction is to wish people to die,

Nah, not the first reaction, by a long shot.  First reaction is to  hope they'll figure things out and choose not to be irresponsible and selfish.  When it becomes apparent that's not going to happen and they continue to spread misinformation and call people who are being responsible "slavish" and "mindless", well who needs people like that in our society?   Don't need them any more than we need drunk drivers, gangsters or religious extremists putting every one else at risk.

Anyway, I don't really wish death on these people; I'd rather they got a clue.  But if such people get sick well ... Be like the habitual drink driver who kills himself, the gangster or extremist who gets shot - too bad, so sad, but you chose that for yourself.

It's tough right now, the future is uncertain and there is a lot of conflicting information and rules certainly do seem arbitrary sometimes.  Surrey, where I am, is a hotspot for Covid - but when I was in the local Costco a few weeks ago for my shot, it was swamped - health authorities don't seem to care about that.  Everyone I saw was wearing masks :), but masks aren't a sure protection and there was no way 6' distance could be maintained :( .  It's safe to keep schools/daycares open, but churches have to shut down?  I'm sure the health authorities are doing their best, weighing economic health and the spread of Covid against each other, but sometimes the restrictions really don't make much sense.

Anyway, I'll keep on staying home as much as possible, wearing a mask and keeping my distance when I do have to go into an establishment.  I didn't have a single cold all winter, which is unusual, so there does seem to be a reason to keep at least some of these behaviors even after the pandemic is under control.

      1.  What consequences, exactly?  A little discomfort?  Who's the snowflake that can't handle a little discomfort?  It sure is strange how millions of medical health professionals and Asians have worn masks as a matter of course, on a daily basis, without any ill-effects, but when there's a pandemic - suddenly they're 'dangerous'.  I don't get the logic here.

      2. "Voluntary" - you aren't all for that.  Before they were voluntary, you mocked people wearing masks, insist how wrong they were and how unserious Covid is - habits you continue.  Voluntary would have been possible without idiots such as yourself spreading misinformation.

      3. Yup, you don't need to.  Because so many other do, you are safer.  How nice that you can take advantage of other people's responsibility, so you can practice being irresponsible and selfish.  Good on ya.

It's hard not to wish the anti-maskers/anti-vaxxers/anti-science crowd wouldn't earn the Darwin awards they so richly deserve.

  7. Want to increase your body's resistance to viruses? Staying home sitting and eating and drinking, smoking is not the way. Get physically fit, get lots of fresh air and sunshine, and eat fruits and vegetables. Get some exposure to less dangerous viruses*.

Get some exposure to less dangerous viruses*.

Uh, no.  Exposing yourself to the flu virus, or cold virus, or measles or mumps or herpes (oral or genital) or hepatitis or any number of "less dangerous viruses" is not going to protect you from Covid.  That's just dumb.

If I'm an atheist who thinks education could eventually eliminate religion (all religions), am a I communist and a traitor to Canada?  Cause that's what a proud Christian and Conservative told me - someone I know offline, btw.  And, can I still vote Conservative sometimes, or do they know and would just reject my vote?

      Thanks.  Who is Tlaib?

I agree, "no more policing" is an extreme statement and I wouldn't support that.

But do civilian police forces really need military grade equipment and weapons?  Are they at war with their citizens?  Is it possible to police less violently, whatever creed or color victims are?  Is there room for some meeting of minds between "get rid of police" and "police are entitled to use deadly force in any interaction".

Is that what they're really saying?  Or is there some nuance not being included - such as "end to anonymous policing"?  Also, is this current info, or is it from say, June 2020?  In other words, are you spreading accurate and current information, or inaccurate and old misinformation?

Cause I didn't find any such current news story.

States are a lot worse off than Canadians, so it's good to know that even with almost 10 times the population, they're on track to complete immunization the same time as Canada.

And, having more people, I certainly expect that they'd have more people vaccinated than Canada at every point throughout the year.

  17. Listening to a news report, a nurse talking about "Covid isn't real" patients dying from Covid.  They miss time with family and friends as they deny their diagnoses. They insist it must be pneumonia, the flu, lung cancer, and that "this can't be happening" until their last breath.  Brought me to tears, even more than hearing about the thousands of people dying on a daily basis.

I really don't get how people can conclude there's a worldwide conspiracy to "scare" us into wearing masks and staying home by inflating the seriousness of Covid.  If anything, many countries downplay the extent of infection and deaths to avoid looking bad or to keep their citizens from "panicking".   Only in Western democracies can we be reasonably sure there's accurate information provided.

This is so, so sad and in places like Canada, the States, the UK etc., so unnecessary.  If "survival of the fittest" is true, then people who are so stupid as to deny a deadly pandemic should be the first to suffer from it.  Sadly, this isn't the case.  We're all at risk, and the deniers put as at more risk as they spread misinformation, cry about masks and refuse to follow public health guidelines.

    So many unnecessary deaths.

Ever heard of "Scamdemic"?  Ever noticed anyone claiming that "its just the flu",  that "its the same as the flu", that "its no worse than the flu", thst "all deaths from flu/pneumonia/heart attacks/stroke/etc are being reported as Covid deaths", that "MSM is lying", that "Masks are a path to totalitarianism, communism, death of democracy".  Ever noticed anti-mask or anti-shutdown protests?

All of that is misinformation and more people die than need to because that misinformation convinces them the risk is marginal and they don't need to take it seriously.  Then they get sick and die, still denying that its Covid killing them.

So sad, so unneccessary.  We'd have plenty enough deaths without the deniers spreading their lies and fake news.

Heard on the news yesterday about a school that had to close because so many staff were off sick with Covid.  Can't remember where, maybe Ontario?  Even last Spring, when we had relatively few cases in BC, my home reno was delayed by six weeks because people were sick, or were testing positive for Covid.  Lots of sick people does affect businesses.

Experts estimated a year +/- for a vaccine.  They're a little ahead of schedule, which is great, but not a full year ahead.  If they start distributing the vaccine in the next few months, it'll likely take about a year to get everyone (who wants to be) vaccinated, in Canada - not sure about the States, they have a lot more people so it may take longer.  But Biden will be in charge so it should go better than what would happen under Trump.
