I never could understand why people are so afraid of masks.  I understand needles.  They can hurt.  I can see people being afraid of needles.

      Well, little girls, anyway.

But I can't understand why people are so afraid of masks.

Are they afraid of being robbed?  Is that it?

Actually Putin supports a lot of what you do.  He loves it when western countries enact policies like carbon taxes and banning pipelines, etc.  It means more money for him.

  3. I wonder how many people have made lifestyle changes because of covid.  Diet, exercise, etc.  Probably not many.  They want everyone else to protect them.

There's a level of admiration I actually have for China. Their basic dictatorship is actually allowing them to deal with covid so much more efficiently than us!

    3. OftenWrong

Or maybe they arent counting anyone over 80. We are madly obsessed with counting and assigning covid, and have stopped ourselves in our tracks while they took it in stride. They built huge covid treatment facilities for ten thousand people in mere weeks. We have barely taken any action, beyond hiding.

As sad as it is to hear about a 90 y.o. who died, it is very hard to stop this death phenomenon at that age. Therefor it's not the number who have died from something during 2019 - 2021, but the number of excess deaths.

I have been over this with you dullards several times already. It's like trying to teach algebra to a bunch of blind chickens.

      They are on asias doorstep.

our numbers now are same as last summer, sans vaccine

they are already preparing us for the coming fall shutdown.

      therefore vaccines did nothing

    4. Boges

      Boges

Yes the numbers are similar, with nowhere near the same testing infrastructure. Also, I don't remember the Blue Jays returning to crowds last summer or unrestricted indoor dining.

And they aren't priming us for a fall shutdown. They're planning in-person learning at school and re-opening the border.

If numbers spike though, It'll be the unvaccinated that bare the brunt of restrictions and sickness.

I think you misunderstand choosing the least worst choice as 'support'. I have already said on numerous occasions I think the Democrats identity politics is disgusting. Many of their border policies are idiotic and CRT is suicidal. That being said, they're STILL better than the Republicans, who are nothing more than a band of grifters and whores working for wealthy donors who keep trying to cheat at elections. Their constant attacks on government institutions have damaged the US in a myriad of ways and they are impoverishing their people at the expense of the wealthy. They also have far too many cozy interactions with Putin.

BTW, the Canadian Conservative Party leadership is okay with refugee and immigration numbers the US Democrats would never stand for. And seem to be embracing many aspects of identity politics themselves. I don't like them. I just dislike them less than I dislike the Liberals. I support policies not parties.

The Republicans stopped being conservatives years ago. They have no interest in fiscal conservatism, which is why their governments consistently have huge budget deficits with little attempt at reigning them in. In the last few years they've also forsaken their previous loyalty to law and order and policing, to the American's military and its foreign intelligence agencies. As for social conservatism, please. Their leaders are all adulterers. Some of them have been exposed as getting abortions for spouses and mistresses. The only thing the Republicans care about is cutting taxes for their wealthy donor base. Rand Paul bragged about bringing a personal message from Trump to their great leader Putin like it was really something he'll cherish. He got to meet Putin! What a hero that man is, eh!

Complete nonsense Argus.  Most people, as the MIT study shows, have weight a cost benefit analysis when it comes to getting vaccinated.  Some prefer to wait until it’s actually approved by the FDA and goes through the normal trials.  That’s completely logical.

BTW the Covid Karen modeling the drug store mask for you above was mask policing (or trying to) somebody with a medical exemption from wearing masks.

    3. Boges

      Boges

So because masks aren't 100% they shouldn't be used at all? Is that the logic?

    4. Infidel Dog

      Infidel Dog

No. You're not getting the protection a wearing mandate would imply it's offering you. If they are claiming cloth and drug store masks are protecting you in any significant way they're lying to you. That not just the logic. It's a fact.

      Quote

Respirators and masks are not the same. Masks, such as cloth masks or surgical masks, are primarily intended to prevent the mask wearer from spreading particles to others from coughing, sneezing, or normal exhalation and speaking. Because these masks have a loose fit to the face, they do not form a tight seal and do not fully protect the wearer against airborne pathogens as some entry is possible at the mask edges. In addition, the material from which traditional masks are fabricated is not sufficient to trap particles of very small size, and therefore do not adequately filter the incoming air from inhalation to the degree necessary to capture and prevent viruses from being inhaled.

No, it's not "reflective of both sides." It does not dispute "the urgency of the pandemic" as you do. Once again you are relying on your lack of reading comprehension to make your point. The article clearly states that despite you anti-vaxxers' use of highly informed data-based evidence, you fail to understand the big picture.

"The researchers conclude that data visualizations aren’t sufficient to convey the urgency of the Covid-19 pandemic, because even the clearest graphs can be interpreted through a variety of belief systems."

Try reading slower next time so you don't, once again, make a fool of yourself.
