Australia has a proper navy, as well. Ships that float and submarines that can go under das wasser wie ein richtiges Unterseeboot.

Australia actually does spend 2% of its GDP on its military, 7 billion or 33% more than Canada last year.

We had a chance to pick up TWO Mistral class amphibs for fire-sale prices and freakin' Egypt snagged them complete with two squadrons of Dassault Rafales for under 6 billion.

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mistral-class_amphibious_assault_ship

Egypt could kick our asses back to Manitoba in a heartbeat.

Imagine cruising-up to an earthquake stricken hell hole in our fully furbished amphibious assault/hospital ships brimming with new helicopters and F-35Cs......well, you'll have to.

Only Flight I boats (no VLS), and recently stricken hulls are quickly facing defueling and recycling.  A  Flight II like USS Pittsgurgh (SSN-720) is still too old.  Youngest active 688's are over 25 years old.

I've long suggested partnering-up with the USN to get Canada in the nuclear sub game. But I'm also the type of Canadian who thinks the Canadian Armed Forces should just be amalgamated into the US Army. At least the troops would be properly equipped...

Canada's subs have purposely been relegated to coastal defense and battery quiet rabbit training for other allied forces.   Excellent AIP boats are now available and though not cheap, cost less to buy and maintain than a nuclear submarine.  There is just no political will to do so.

He said he wanted Trump to be impeached, but he misspoke.  What he meant to say was that he didn't want Trump to be impeached.  It should have been obvious.  He thought it would be obvious.

You think it will matter if 10 people a day are turned away?   What do you think automatically go through people's mind who read or hear about people being denied entry?  They'll think something's wrong about the person, or her credentials!  That's what!

People are not all blind, and irrational like bleeding hearts liberals.  They know that the USA is a target for terrorism.....thus, serious precaution is a must.  It's for the benefit not only for residents of the USA, but also for tourists who go to the USA!

    4. bush_cheney2004

      bush_cheney2004

The CBC loves to run stories about the small percentage of Canadians legally denied entry into the U.S.   The other Canadians just get with the program  go about their business without major drama queen tantrums.

If the CBSA told me I would not be allowed into Canada, no big deal.   No boycott tantrum required.

It's not just this article, I'm noticing a growing resentment and dislike of this Liberal government and it's policies in many articles. Yet Trudeau and his travelling circus are apparently blissfully unaware of this growing public sentiment. His signing of the UN immigration compact supremely pissed off a great many Canadians. Also his constant assumption that he speaks for all Canadians is not sitting well with the greater public.

That's because  youre dishonest in what you write.
