  1. Bannon: Will populism be socialist or nationalist ?   It's not going away.

Bannon won that debate!  Hands down.

      Quote

The proposition the two men debated, with Bannon in favour and Frum opposed, was: “The future of Western politics is populist, not liberal.”

      Quote

Despite Frum’s effort, Bannon appeared to be more persuasive. At the start of the debate, 28 per cent of those in the audience indicated they were in favour of the idea that populism was the way of the future, while 72 per cent were opposed.

However, more than half said they were open to changing their minds during the debate and many did. After the debate, 57 per cent were in favour, with 43 opposed.

Your fingerprints were likely scanned and/or catalogued for future reference and automated matching.   They don't need your actual ink stained record.

Only in the USA. In Canada, when the government says it doesn't do that they mean it.

    3. bush_cheney2004

      bush_cheney2004

Sure they mean it....until they don't. Your fingerprint section record (FPS) is forever, and accessible by Canadian and foreign law enforcement/border services.

They've got that right, one of his lies:   "I am looking straight at Canadians and being honest the way I always have. We said we are committed to balanced budgets, and we are. We will balance that budget in 2019, because Canadians need investment and growth right now."

  7. Canada 'strongly opposed' to U.S. stationing troops near border.   So ?

U.S. troops near the northern border can offload tasks from regular border patrol agents and augment staff lost to COVID-19 & quarantine.   Surveillance, logistics, inspections, etc.

Freeland and Trudeau are freaking out because it is one step closer to a total border shutdown, their worst fear for Canada's economy.    They don't want to publicly admit that the northern border has not gone unprotected for many years....since 9/11.

    2. BubberMiley

      BubberMiley

"Has not gone unprotected" means it's been protected. You can always tell a Trumper by the way they speak. They say what they don't mean and get confused by what they say.

Yes, I heard about this and one way to counter this is for Canada ,especially Ontario, to go back to the 1950's and make all products that consumers buy and IF Canada did that the exports to the USA would go down and they would feel it and also to expand our export more to other countries.

"The law of the jungle" was how Hillman, a former U.S. trade negotiator and now a Georgetown professor, described her fear of what's next.

"[It means] everybody putting on tariffs as they want, and then retaliating against those tariffs with tariffs of their own. And fundamentally what you're creating is chaos."

She warned that "chaos has a huge economic drag."

Cool theory Omni. Except we aren't spending it taking care of our people. Just ask the Thalidomide survivors or vets, just to name a few. We sure do seem to have lots of money for others though.

Yes we are not doing as good a job as possible taking care of everyone, but that doesn't mean it is a complete failure either.

Trudeau the Grinch has stolen our Christmas.

Most Canadians are cutting back on Christmas spending: survey
A new survey by Equifax Canada suggests that more than half of Canadians plan to spend less money on gifts this year than in the past. Many reported anxiety about their personal debt levels and concerns about how long it will take to pay off credit card bills.
