  1. Why are we paying compensation to the families of people who died on that Ukraine air flight? We've never done that before.

  2. In a nutshell, a healthy society, or nation, is much like an ecological system, it takes a long time to find an equilibrium and is far more fragile than it is given credit for. So my main argument against Mass Immigration is that it degrades, or destroys, culture and social cohesion. - found on the internet

Oh, I don't know.  I bet there are a few on the left who don't recoil in horror at Scottish Nationalism.  Or Welsh Nationalism.  Or African Nationalism for that matter.  I doubt they would have sided with apartheid South Africa against the ANC.  They might side with China against Tibet.  I wouldn't, but they might.  The Chinese pretending to be commies and all that.

Quebec Nationalism is just outright treason, of course.

Anyway, I guess in some ways at least, even Einstein was a prat.

      Nationalism is not patriotism.

You have made it clear that you dislike Canada many times over.  You have nothing but contempt for "progressives", which the majority of Canadians are; you don't like Canada's immigration policies, our health care system, our judicial system, our democratic systems, women who attain political power in Canada, our Canadian value of diversity, or our humanistic approach to helping those in the world less fortunate than us.  I have no idea why you would want to live in a country for which you have such huge contempt.

Progressives make up about 10% of Canadians. Most are young, stupid and shallow. Though there's a sprinkling of older people with early dementia among them. They are, by and large, losers filled with anger and bitterness at everyone who has done better than them in life - which is most people. They are a cancer on any society as they hate that society and its members and long to destroy it and punish its members. They consider anyone who doesn't think like them as a virtual non-human who should have no rights, and are authoritarian by nature, as are all Socialists.

    1. Shady

I think that Western elites look at it as a form of reparations.  They have some type of guilt associated with the success of Western countries.  So using taxpayers to subsidize foreigners helps relieve their guilt in a way.

Take note that Jesus instructed disciples to sell their cloaks to  buy swords - not knives - for protection.   Swords must've been quite pricey at the time.  And maybe, He wasn't concerned for anything bigger than a sword at that time.  Swords must be top of the line. No carry and conceal either.

Based on that - if that were today, I assume Jesus will opt for something with fire power.  Like a 357 magnum, maybe? :)

I don't know.  What we know about him mostly, if not all, comes from media - and he is a controversial figure (especially with the way he talks, and what he says). I think he loves to troll, or get a rise out of people - it's one way  of being talked about, and a great method for distraction, for stealing the "stage," for "eclipsing," etc..,  Lol.  Why did he get so many free coverage during the primary and the election compared to others?

Based on limited information, I certainly am not in any position to judge him if he's a Christian or not.

Like I've explained in your topic in Religion, Spirituality - that's between him and God.

Disappointing, but I'm not surprised. The only world leader taking the Chinese head-on is Donald Trump. I know you don't like him personally. However, it is a fact that Trump, and he alone, is using economic negotiations to force China to stop companies from producing and distributing fentanyl. No other country is supporting Donald Trump in this initiative.

I know you don't like him, but right now he's the only hope there is to stop this mad freight train we're on, in regards to trade with the Chinese. We've all been saying it for years, but no leader ever had the balls to do something. The door to criticism of China and holding them accountable is now open, thanks to the bad repugnant man who dwells in the Whitehouse. Given the political climate we are in, only such a man can make these changes now.

    2. Argus

      Argus

Trump has no idea what he's doing, which is why he's getting no results. The way to get China to do something is NEVER to openly, bluntly make demands. That just doesn't work. You want to block fentanyl, just start doing very intense searches on ships carrying Chinese goods - intensive enough they're backed up for weeks waiting to offload. And when the Chinese complain you act very apologetic, and say that you have no choice because of the fentanyl, but that you'll certainly try to do better and hire more people.

Won't be too long before China starts cracking down on fentanyl sales and exports.

We could do the same, btw, except Trudeau has no balls or spine.

Vancouver didn't pay for it, Westbank did.   A city bylaw requires developers to pay for public art for developments over 10,000 SF.

    2. Argus

Yes, which means it basically takes the part of a tax. So instead of paying five million in taxes to the city they had to contribute 'public art' and this is it.

  16. What do you call it when someone takes someone else's money openly by force? Robbery. What do you call it when a politician takes someone else's money in taxes and gives it to someone who is more likely to vote for him? Social Justice.  - Thomas Sowell

I don't need the government. I would get paid and hold whatever currency would be in use, with or without them. Most of the money the government takes from me is then redistributed to other people who are less productive than I am.

I read that migrant detention centers along the US Mexico border are emptying out, people are not trying to come across as much as before. When they do, they get sent to Mexico where they can live with their family, presumably not in a jail, and await their hearing. Sounds pretty good to me.

Now the system runs itself... good work. Go enjoy some golf.

  20. Murray writes: “The interpretation of the world through the lens of ‘social justice,’ ‘identity group politics’ and ‘intersectionalism’ is probably the most audacious and comprehensive effort since the Cold War at creating a new ideology.” Christianity has been spurned, but the religious impulse is inherent and abhors a vacuum. The “religion” of social justice, Murray observes, poured itself into the handy campus vessel of Marxism with remarkable speed.
