Queen of Canada

Actually, it was a US Navy S-3 Viking (not a fighter aircraft) [Navy One], but since President Bush type qualified in the F-102 Delta Dagger, it would have been no great shakes, and not the first time he wore a flight suit.

Give me a break. He's not qualified to fly a paper airplane. Do you really believe anything about his supposed military service?

No, I believe you are so obsessed with BDS that you cannot/will not objectively separate fact from fiction. Ex CBS anchorman Dan Rather suffered the same fate.

It would appear that President Bush has more military service than most Canadian Prime Minsters:

Sir John A. Macdonald - none

Alexander Mackenzie - Militia (1866-1874)

Sir John Joseph Caldwell Abbott - Militia (1866-?)

Sir John Sparrow David Thompson - none

Sir Mackenzie Bowell - Militia (1867-1872)

Sir Charles Tupper - none

Sir Wilfrid Laurier - none

Sir Robert Laird Borden - none

Arthur Meighen - none

William Lyon Mackenzie King - none

Richard Bedford Bennett - none

Louis St. Laurent - none

John Diefenbaker - Canadian Army (1916-1917)

Lester Bowles Pearson - Canadian Army (1915-1918)

Pierre Trudeau - Canadian Army (Canadian Officers Training Corps) Home Service

Joe Clark - none

John Napier Turner - none

Brian Mulroney - none

Kim Campbell - none

Jean Chr├ętien - none

Paul Martin - none

Stephen Harper - none

The "truth" is hardly an attack....Americans and their government are targets here every day just for being Americans.

Citation, please. Can you provide an example of Americans being attacked just for being Americans in a post from today (or even this week), or are you just feeling victimized that people would criticize your nation for bombing and invading other countries for oil?

Yes...head over to the Canadian Politic - Federal Politics board....everything from the veracity of NASA temperature data to Taser sales for American women.

But it's all good...just don't have a cow when it blows back in the wind.

Yes, I suppose if one considers someone stating that tasers are being marketed to women in the U.S. is a beyond-the-pale expression of pure anti-Americanism, then examples of U.S.-hating could be found pretty much everywhere.

However, if one considers such a statement to be completely innocuous, then I guess one would interpret your feelings of victimization to be paranoid, delusional, and downright hilarious.

I don't think I'll be getting my panties in a knot if it blows back that someone says items are being marketed to Canadian women.

You have jetissoned the context from above. Merely listing PMs without military service was labeled an attack on Canadians for being Canadian.

But they wouldn't....because without the American references, many Canadians couldn't define themselves or Canada. And that is the most "hilarious" thing of all.

It would also appear that most Canadian Prime Ministers didn't use their dad's influence and join the National Guard to avoid combat duty.

No...it would appear that many wouldn't even do that. No shame in Bush's game....F-102's were "widow makers".

Um. No. Not "wouldn't," but "didn't need to." Bush needed to, which is the only reason he literally pushed his way into the NG, using dad's influence to do so.

That only speaks to how close the U.S. and Canada are in terms of culture. We have grown and developed in such close proximity our similarities vastly outweigh our differences, so it's only natural that we would find some sense of distinct identity by these few distinctions.

But I don't think the fact that we are largely similar is particularly "hilarious" or something to be ashamed of at all. I appreciate the culture that Canada and the U.S. shares, even though the winds of change are more often than not generated from the south. I think Canada has had a disproportionate influence, given its relatively tiny population. At least from what I can tell by all all those people watching and playing our version of rugby football.

Sure...not a day goes by when I don't hear someone speaking about Canada...ummm....wait a minute....they moved to the US from Canada to get a better job and pay lower taxes!

Why do birds suddenly appear

Every time you are near?

Just like me, they long to be

Close to you.

Why do stars fall down from the sky

Every time you walk by?

Just like me, they long to be

Close to you.

No, they go to get away from this brutal, godawful, ridiculous, insane, stupid, miserable cold and snow.

I never understood why people live in North Dakota and the northern states. They could legally live in Hawaii or at least Florida or Phoenix or California, etc. I love Canada, but I sure wouldn't spend the next five months here if I didn't have to.

No, they have been here for many years.....winter, spring, summer and fall. That doesn't explain it at all. Weather in coastal BC is better than where I live, an hour's drive from Manitoba. They live here in the cold.

Maybe for you...not for me. I left San Diego over 25 years ago for this winter wonderland. Weather in San Diego is "god-awful" boring after a while. Hell is disguised as paradise.

Holy Schmoley, saying that tasers are being marketed to the public on a taser thread is now anti-American? Somehow you don't strike me as the over-sensitive type. What wouldn't be considered anti-American to you ..... only when we prostrate ourselves in the face of your superiority?

Again, you have lost the context from prior posts. If posting the lack of military service for Canadian PMs is attacking Canada for being Canadian, then surely the bevy of posts such as your which rely on American subject matter is the same.

Members post whatever they wish (within forum rules limits), even if that means a fancy for content from the Evil Empire. But some take exception when I make the worm turn in the opposite direction.

That may be your excuse but your posts are derogatory at every turn. People know when they see your name that it is not anything but an anti-Canadian swipe even if the issue doesn't call for it. If you would honestly engage you would find that others would honestly engage you. There is plenty of Canadiana and/or Americana or any other ana in the world that could be discussed honestly. Because you disagree with something in another country doesn't mean you are anti anything but that issue that is brought up. It usually doesn't encompass the whole land mass with all the occupants and every custom, law, policy, etc. You seem to go on wholesale attack as soon as the USA is brought up. As our closest (and only) neighbour it is inevitable that USA would be the first comparison to make as it is the most familiar. As far as "not" being American I think it's overblown. We don't actually sit around with a glass of wine or bottle of beer and talk about not being American.

From my fingers to deaf ears...................

carry on.

You are wrong...I am "honestly" engaged anyway, and all my posts are not "anti-Canadian".

I am careful to distinguish some Canadians from all of Canada. Please follow your own advice.

Oh, you'll be back.....like a moth to a flame. The USA is not your "neighbour" or even your "neighbor". It is a nation state with interests and 300,000,000 people, not just the "right wing".

Find where I tarred all Americans with one brush or in "almost" every post that I write I bring up Americana derogatorily.

Oh, you'll be back.....like a moth to a flame.

What does that mean? Did I say I was going away?

The USA IS Canada's neighbour, like it or not. It is a nation state and it does have 3 million people; that has nothing to do with geographical location. And the right wing thing ... where did that come from? I think you attribute to me your issues, certainly not which I have brought up.

All I really was trying to say is that I think you could be an interesting poster since you have a different, if not quite eccentric, perspective but you don't give anyone a chance to see that.

Good...you are back just as predicted after that null pointer error. The "right wing" thing came from one of your other posts with more sweeping generalizations. I am only one of 300,000,000 Americans, and explicitily do not represent all or even a majority view. But I do represent the reality of American power, economics, and history.

All I really was trying to say is that I think you could be an interesting poster since you have a different, if not quite eccentric, perspective but you don't give anyone a chance to see that.

Oh please...spare me from the analysis and just play the goddamn game. I am not here to kiss your ass, Neighbour.
