Rick Mercer Helps Michael Ignatieff Move

Recommended Posts

I loved last night's show and was so glad I found this. In case you missed it:

Mr. Ignatieff came off as the wise father figure...caring for Stephen Harper's children. I think this will resonate well with Canadians. He may be a brilliant man but very down to earth.

I loved his wifes reaction to the shoe closet. Now that was honest!

They made you feel like you could just put your feet up and enjoy their company. Both are so warm, with no pretensions. Not at all what I expected. He wears a sweater not to impress, but that's just how he dresses. I really like them

As opposed to Harper, who looked like a mannequin stuffed into some leisure wear. "Don't worry Stephen, some day you'll be a real boy!"

There are aspects of Harper I admire, but he's about as warm and personable as a freeze-dried icicle.

It was funny, and it definitely won't hurt his popularity...I noticed how he mentioned "his story". How Canadians can listen to 'his story' and judge for themselves. Reminded me of Obama, he often said 'let me tell you my story'.

I'm not surprised Harper refused the offer to use Stornaway, the last thing he wants to do is help Iggy look good....even if it would save taxpayers some $$$$.

Soon Iggy will have to call Rick Mercer to help him move again when he wins a majority government.

Oh please! No more majorities! I don't care what ideology they are, one ideology does not suit all Canadians. We like our minorities. Makes them remember what they learned in kindergarten about "sharing". It's the least we can expect of politicians - that they behave at least as well as 5 year olds and cooperate with each other!

It was a funny video, though, and Ignatieff at least has a sense of humour.

Better than a Liberal majority would be a liberal minority with the NDP holdingh the balancxe of power. That would be dandy.

You guys are hilarious. It's TV. The wife's bit was scripted. The cameraman even changed set-ups during that scenario.

I couldn't care less if Ignatieff was as stiff as a board. Judge the guy on how he performs on behalf of the country.

I must have been watching another version of this program. I admit that I lean towards being Conservative, but the only thing I found funny was the Bob Rae skit. I found Ignatieff to have pretty well zero personality, even though the program obviosly took the best shots they could find......and of course he took the opportunity to show how "gracious" he was in offering Stornaway to Harper. I know that Conservatives and Liberals are highly polarized on this forum, but I found Harper's Christmas with Mercer to be of much more substance and pretty darn funny.

Hmmm We already knew that Ignatief was highly intelligent, his resume speaks for itself. I think the Mercer skit and even the 22 minutes skits showed us that he also has pretty good social skills. I think the skits showed that Micheal Ignatief has a good personality, something that Harper is sorely lacking. Even if we gave Harper the benefit of the doubt and evaluated the two men as intellectual equals, Ignatief is a clear winner in the personality department. I think that Canadians will have an easier time seeing Ignatief as "one of us" than they do with Harper.

I think women in particular will feel more comfortable trusting Ignatief with their rights. In an election a lot can be made of the "financial update" and what it said about pay equity for women.

FACT: Ignotieff has spent 2.5 of the last 30 years inside Canada!

FACT: Ignotieff was named leader of the party without letting its membership have a vote!

FACT: Ignotieff is a staunch supporter of the Iraq war!

FACT: Ignotieff has never led or organized anything in his life!

FACT: Ignotieff is not an elected to lead Canada!

Don't let the Liberal cronies steal the PMO's office.

It can be really said that Iggy's performance was without any pretense IF he did not know who Mercer is, and if he didn't know he's on tv being viewed by millions of voters Iggy's trying to impress. I guess this is just another "reality"-tv.

I'd say the only sure thing here is that Iggy's moving to Stornaway. I'm not even sure if his moving day was not scheduled to coincide with Mercer's schedule.

But I must say he's definitely better than Dion.

Now that you mentioned it why didn't Harper take him up on that? It would save us taxpayers alot money, now we have to pay for his family taking one floor in a rather expensive hotel along with the added security and it was close for the kids to go to school.
