story

Walmart, a key bank with GMAC Financial Services, Best Buy, CVS, Travelocity, Re-Bath, Broadview Security and Allergan have all backed out, bringing the list of former Glenn Beck advertisers to Twenty.

Other high-profile companies shaken loose from the Fox editorialist's fold include Lawyers.com, Procter & Gamble, Progressive Insurance, State Farm, S.C. Johnson, GEICO, Men's Wearhouse, Sargento, ConAgra, Roche, Sanofi-Aventis and RadioShack.

...

Carolyn Castel, Vice President of Corporate Communications at the national pharmacy chain CVS, added that "we expect [public debate] to be informed, inclusive and respectful, in keeping with our company’s core values and commitment to diversity." Which is apparently why they pulled out of Beck's show.

...

However, Marketwatch notes: "For its part, Fox News said through a spokeswoman that while some advertisers have 'removed their spots from Beck,' they have just shifted to 'other programs on the network, so there has been no revenue lost.'"

Beck is still one of the Fox News Channel's largest audience magnets, pulling an average of 2 million viewers. ... Placing him right behind the two most-watched cable news pundits in the game: Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity.

LOL Dancer to funny.

Typical of the intolerant socialists, if they do not like what someone has to say they try and silence them. I may not agree with what you say but I will defend your right to say it, the lost mantra of the left buried with their moral compass.

I don't like political ad boycotts either. But I'm guessing you weren't whining about intolerant right-wingers when they did the same thing to Bill Maher (and ultimately got him fired) on Politically Incorrect.

Glenn Beck pulls huge ratings, especially for a 5pm program. He may have lost some sponsors, but he'll easily find ones to take their place. He's going nowhere.

I used to like Beck when he was on CNN. I thought he brought great balance to their programing.

Since he moved to Fox though, he's gone off the deep end. His rants have become incomprehensible at the best of times, and he's in serious need of some fact checkers.

I don't know if CNN just held him back that much, or if Fox is pushing this current persona, or what. It's hard to reconcile the two shows. I'd like to think that "CNN Glenn" was the real Beck, and "Fox Glenn" is just a character.

His show has really entered the forum of entertainment, but the substance has suffered. However he did bring some good contributors over with him, that I enjoy seeing on Bill's show.

Couple Arrested For Wearing Anti-Bush Shirts Settle For $80,000

A couple arrested at a rally after refusing to cover T-shirts that bore anti-President Bush slogans settled their lawsuit against the federal government for $80,000, the American Civil Liberties Union announced Thursday.

Nicole and Jeffery Rank of Corpus Christi, Texas, were handcuffed and removed from the July 4, 2004, rally at the state Capitol, where Bush gave a speech.

A man was spotted Monday afternoon carrying a semi-automatic assault rifle and a pistol at a pro-health care reform rally next to the Veterans of Foreign Wars convention in Arizona where President Obama was speaking.

The local paper The Arizona Republic reported:

A man, who decided not to give his name, was walking around the pro-health care reform rally at 3rd and Washington streets, with a pistol on his hip, and an AR-15 (a semi-automatic assault rifle) on a strap over his shoulder.

phew. good thing he wasn't wearing a tshirt. good thing socialism didn't get this guy!

Every other Terrorist sympathizer who watches Glenn Beck call for another attack on America disgust me.

If he was wearing a t-shirt he might have made some money.

The Huffington Post - now there things are fair and balanced. You know, I never seem to get the whole story from the Huffington Post. There is usually some ideological slant. Don't you find that when you are doing research on their stories? Or do you not bother with getting other points of view or doing a little research?

Protests from the grass roots are organized. Protests from PETA, Code Pink, ACORN, etc., are all spontaneous - a-a-and representative of the majority, no less. I loved that term "astroturf" from Nasty....er...Nancy Pelosi. As if organized lobbying interest groups are grassroots...what a maroon.

So ... I gather this is the content that people are upset about?

None of this is intelligent, and the poison thing is particularly retarded, even in jest (he was joking, right?)

...however, I'm not sure any of it really qualifies as racism. Is it racist to argue that Obama's social justice agenda is motivated by a desire for reparations? It seems to me that's sort of like saying it was religious intolerance to argue that Bush's military plans were motivated by religious dogma.

I don't think what Beck is saying is intelligent, but I also don't think it's offensive.

i don't see the huffington post as a news orgnization. most of their material is taken from other organizations. there is no denying that ms. huffington and her so-called news organization is a democrat mouthpiece. if they were balanced, they would report pelosi and her husband's extremely questionable business deals and donation spending. she's balls deep just like many other politicians are.

regardless, the information i posted from the site is true.

If groups like PETA and the like were the Majority their insane policies would be put through. They are not even close to a Majority they are a very vocal and sometimes violent minority.

Apparently, some of the advertisers that dropped Glenn Beck, are also dropping commentary shows on MSNBC and CNN. They don't wanna be involved in any of it. Good job boycotters!

I don't follow the US pundit soap operas closely enough to know what you're referring to, but all I saw in the clips that were linked to regarding these sponsor pull-outs were his commentary regarding Obama's alleged racism, as well as the "joke" about poisoning Pelosi.

I don't think what Beck says is accurate... but I also don't think it's racism. And as far as I can tell, it's the charge of racism that's making sponsors leave. Whether the charge has merit or not, sponsors are afraid to be associated with somebody who is faced with this kind of accusation.

Related thought... if sponsors hate racists so much, why hasn't there been a similar campaign against Lou Dobbs for his paranoid rants about Mexican immigrants, which it seems to me are a lot closer to racism than anything Beck said that I'm aware of.
