Borrowing Pliny's words with a bit modification: 300 million Americans will have to buy health care for 30 million their contrymen under Obamacare. This is why it is unpopular.

No. They will have to purchase it themselves. Or be fined. No one is going to buy it for them, and even the public option has been taken out. That's why it's unpopular. For the reasons I've already explained.

....But which kind changes you suppose he could make without asking Americans to pay for it? Could he sell Israel to Arabian Kings to trade them cancelling all American debts? Or get some Pakistan soldier wearing American uniform to battle Taliban for American interests and honour? Or depend on Dalai Lama's Buddhistic lecture to make all bankers, CEOs and unions giving up their easy-good salary to make American companies more competitive?

You just don't get it. You keep making it about something it's not. You have this (preconceived?) idea that "Americans don't want to pay for their countrymen," and you refuse to move beyond that line of thought even though I've explained to you that that's not why it's unpopular and I've explained to you why it's unpopular.

ODS at its finest.

Obviously you just don't get it. Any criticism of Bush was unfounded and based only on hatred of Bush, while any and all criticism of Obama is legitimate and justified.

I say let them have their fun. They laugh at the billboards and I laugh at them laughing at the billboards .... it's a win-win situation. B)

Unfortunately it's not a laughing matter. I'm definitely not laughing. Every day Obama scares the hell out of the private sector and small business. Every day Obama delays real economic recovery with his reckless policies.

Ain't no laughing here. Only crying and disbelief.

Are you sure? I'm pretty sure they're talking about the overwhelming consensus that GWB has taken the title of Worst President Ever.

So this is a different shady then? ;)

Looks like more billboards are popping up. Hmm, maybe Obama is creating at least a little new economic activity!

Really? If what you said is true, "Obamacare" will be the most welcoming policy among those insurance companies and pharmaceutical business. 30 million new clients added, how exciting policy it is! :P

Maybe I'm preconceived. But my conclusion are based on these:

1. Obama isn't the first one talking medicare reform during his presidency. Clinton and Bush also talked about it, though they were just talking. I can't believe all of them have been just taking some problems which even don't exist.

2. You said "Obamacare" is a good-for-nothing and good-for-nobody plan. But why dose he insist on the plan which is even not good for himself? So he and all the expertise behind the plan (I suppose the plan wasn't drawn by himself) are idiots and madmen. Do you think it is credible?

3. You said "Obamacare" offers nothing but increase the burden of American people. Please allow me make a story to explain my point: I had a house and I had a commercial insurance policy covering the loss of the house and all my belongings in this house. One day Emperor Obama thought TVs were the most important property in his people's houses so he decreed enlisting TV sets into his imperial compulsory insurance list. Then someone said, "poor xul, he has to pay his original insurance with new imperial-TV-insurance added." Why this comment is incorrect? Because when my TV was covered by imperial-TV-insurance, theoretically I can renegotiated the policy of the commercial insurance to take out the fares covering the TV set.

4.If "Obamacare" only collects money from Americans but nobody could benefit, where will all these money go? Just as I have said above, insurance comanies seem like unhappy at "Obamacare" and Obama's pocket seems to small to contain all these money.

5.Asking 30 million Americans pay parts of the fare of "Obamacare" doesn't mean they will not benefit from it. For example, If you were the CEO of Microsoft, you made a policy selling Windows by $150 in America and $50 in China, according the difference of living standard between the two countries. Though Chinese customers had to pay $50 for their software, could they say they didn't benefit from your policy at all?

I think you're starting to get it.

What Howard Dean had to say about it, since you don't seem to believe me (excerpts):

Any measure that expands private insurers' monopoly over health care and transfers millions of taxpayer dollars to private corporations is not real health-care reform.

Real health-care reform is supposed to eliminate discrimination based on preexisting conditions. But the legislation allows insurance companies to charge older Americans up to three times as much as younger Americans, pricing them out of coverage.

The bill was supposed to give Americans choices about what kind of system they wanted to enroll in. Instead, it fines Americans if they do not sign up with an insurance company, which may take up to 30 percent of your premium dollars and spend it on CEO salaries -- in the range of $20 million a year -- and on return on equity for the company's shareholders.

Few Americans will see any benefit until 2014, by which time premiums are likely to have doubled.

In short, the winners in this bill are insurance companies; the American taxpayer is about to be fleeced with a bailout in a situation that dwarfs even what happened at AIG.

No, Jimmy Carter's held that distinction for quite a while, and still does. However, another couple of years like Obama's first year and a half, and we'll definitely see a new champion!
