Time to defund the CBC

Recommended Posts

This is the last straw, hiring duceppe for a morning show to spout his BS, is going to far. First we pay him to try and break up the country, now we pay him 140g's to retire from trying to break up the country, now IMO we are paying him a 100g's??? give or take to work for the CBC. This is a slap in the face for the country.

Wow imagine Seperatists in Quebec tuning into Radio-Canada of all things. Is that worth a 100g's for you Mr. Federalist?

The show probably won't be a cheesy as you might like it to be.

My gosh could he convince seperatists to vote for the bloc again rather than l'autobus orange. Why would the government want that to happen, even if Gilles is a Socialist in addition to a seperatist so said.

It's all a side show. Do ratings matter? If Paul Martin or Jean Chretien... started to host would people tune in. Maybe Chretien for CBC comedy shows and Martin for CBC business news... I'm geussing they would cost more than the CBC would pay though.

Or Mr. Day for Sunday.. it could be called the Mr. Sun Day show.. maybe not for the CBC though..

Oh and what about Mr. Dion as the next one after suzuki for the nature of things..... oh that's right HE IS STILL AN MP... and suzuki isn't in need of a respirator (at 75 years old). Obviously he is the man, anti nature albertans will love the fact they can't understand anything he is saying. (and it will help him practice his english.. especially the important words)

How often does that happen.... (a party leader staying on after another leader was appointed twice or three times how many interim leaders?)

My gosh.. what would happen if Canadians watched the CBC instead of NBC and ABC and other American Programming.

Duceppe has made a career out of living off Canadian taxpayers. For 20 years as an MP and party leader in Ottawa he earned a healthy living by telling the people who paid him that they were part of an inferior country that wasn’t worthy of Quebec’s membership.

He headed the Bloc Quebecois in election after election in which party expenses were paid for from public subsidies provided by the people he’d rather not share a country with.

His retirement pension, which is better than yours and mine, is coming out of your pocket and my pocket. Pretty much everything Gilles Duceppe has was paid for by Canada, even though he’s never quit beefing about it.

So why wouldn’t we give him another chance to share his separatist opinions, and pad his pension, even after the voters in his own province dumped him from office, reducing his party to four seats from 47? Why would we think it was strange to keep paying the guy to tell us how little he thinks of us?

It’s Canada. Insult us. We’ll pick up the tab.

Catherine Perrin, host of a new mid-morning show on Radio-Canada’s La Premiere Chaine, confirmed over Twitter that the former separatist leader would host his own segment called La Performance de la Semaine (The Week’s Performance), in which he would discuss topics ranging from “sport, culture, science.”

Not unlike in his days as the top separatist politician, he has a platform to get his digs in against the provincial Liberals and federal Conservatives. I don't agree with taxpayers paying Duceppe to mouth off. To me, it feels like the continuation of a bad dream.

Well, it probably would be good for our health. We'd all fall asleep by 9:30 pm. If I had nothing but "Little Mosque On the Prairie" I'd probably hang myself, like the passenger in "Airplane" who hangs himself to keep from hearing the lead character, Ted Striker, spill out his life's story.

1.1 billion dollars. For what, the CBC is supposed to be for all canadians not just the left and the french. Funny thing how sun tv is blowing these fools out of the water with no money from the taxpayer. Time for the CBC to be given one year before the money gets cuts, to give them time to raise money from thier supporters, or shut it down.

Must be something, Harper increased funding this year . Ouch that must hurt.

Yea....SNN gets almost a million viewers a night for the news?

Suuuuure

SNN ratings are way up, significantly so from the first month when they sucked so bad Wild Bills "Paint Drying CHannel " was a better watch.

But they have a long way to go to beat Mansbrdge,(although cbc newscasts are free falling) and they cant see that far up to know what LLoyd brings in for viewers. (BTW, its over a million, SNN is touching 80G)

Let me guess, Canoe website told ya so?

It is?

Nope.

Read the comparisons the Sun newspa.....er I mean Canoe.ca uses . Fair enough to use CTVNN and CBCN (??) but never CBC main nor CTV main.

And in fairness, SNN has way less exposure since Bell doesnt carry it. So I guess if you pro-rata it maybe they beqat them.

BBM measurements can be read many diff ways.

I guess it's time to refund the CBC. Duceppe will not be on Radio-Canada.

But not because they realized the optics were hor-awful. It's cuz apparently they can't hire recently defeated politicians.

CBC Newsworld is actually a pretty good channel. But the crap they put on the main network is unwatchable most of the time. Even the hockey is shitteh compared to what TSN does, with their old theme music to boot.

Unless there is something I don't understand, Radio-Canada is nearly pretty much "just for the french". You won't see him on english CBC.

"You're" not paying him anything. The 'separatists' that vote for Duceppe and his acolytes also work and pay their taxes to the Canadian government. The day you kick them out of the country or refuse their fiscal contribution will the be day you'll have the legitimacy to complain about Duceppe's salary as a MP.

Beat me to it and said it better than I would have.

So he quit, which I would say he is now 100g's richer today then he was yesterday. Whata joke and when are canadians going to smarten up. I could just see him and his buddies playing cards smoking cubans and drinking french wine and duceppe opens his 13g's a month pension check and laughs and then says watch me get some more money out of this stupid country, phones his buddies at the CBC and poof ,more money for gille, while people in this country bust thier ass to get by. How long is it going to take canadians to say enough. Politicions pay a dollar for every five we idiots pay. So much money for so few.

Sun TV's parent company receives some very generous subsidies from the Canadian taxpayer via the Canada Media Fund and grants from Canadian Heritage, as well as tax breaks. So let's defund the CBC, right after we defund all the "private" broadcasters who so eagerly suckle at the public teat.

Do they get anywhere approaching 1.1 billion?

Quebecor owns one of the largest chains of newspapers too BTW.

Let's both "fund" the same way. Fair is fair.

No, but why does that matter?

What's your point?

Why? They are two different entities.

CBC the liberal political mouthpiece. I have to agree then. Sun should get more.
