Ontario employees sent memo about "sensitivity" to Muslims.

Recommended Posts

Actually, minorities should be sensitive to everyone else. This mentality of pandering to minorities is exactly what will be the undoing of this country.

In other words, being polite and sensitive will destroy us.

Thankfully, only a tiny minority of people feel this way although some days it seems like more.

Yep. And I am fairly certain that the Government of Ontario still offers cross-cultural sensitivity training to inform people of all kinds of different cultural traits since the workplace is changing significantly. More information about other cultures, some see it as a bad thing. Go figure.

Another example of why Canada is finished, where wasting money on "training" us to accommodate others is seen as a good thing. Excuse me, but it is for people with special interests and needs to make their own accommodations for others. Why do I need "training" (otherwise known as brainwashing) in order to know how to interact with Muslims? Why can't I interact with them as I would with anyone else? What's next, forgiveness for poor performance at work from Muslims during Ramadan because of their understandable low blood sugar levels during the work day?

As I said, we do it for Christians too... It's part of being a nice person. There's probably a manual you can find if you're interested.

Polite and sensitive? Me not bringing food into a lunchroom meeting because one of my co-workers is a Muslim is "polite and sensitive"? Giving my employee and extra twenty-five minutes off per day is "polite and sensitive"? Not wonder what the hell Abdul is doing washing his feet in the sink is "polite and sensitive"? Pretending not to be disgusted with Fatima's body odour because she's all wrapped up in black on a hot summer day is somehow contrary to being "polite and sensitive"?

People like you are why Canada will continue its self-destruction as we pander to third-worlders and inferior ideologies/cultures while we worship at the leftist altar of multiculturalism.

Everyone should be treated the same and be held to the same expectations. You of course, think otherwise.

So the two things are necessarily linked? In your mind I mean... just askin'

Yeah, they're linked by religious beliefs - specifically tolerance and respect of religious beliefs and displays of religious beliefs and others being expected to work around others' religious beliefs in the work place. Hope that helps clear things up .... in your mind I mean.

Now, about my question, you think such a memo exists? You think such displays are allowed? You think other people are told they must not only be subjected to said Christmas customs, but must also be tolerant of them?

Just askin' .............

Nah, I just question the patriotism and commitment to this country of someone who identifies with a foreign power and rejects many of the principles that make this country and western democracy great.

So I suppose you also oppose 2nd generation Canadians that identify with the country of their parents. See anytime a big Soccer tournament comes around.

No, but crying about it and acting like its the end of the world sure makes you look like a petty little bitch.

No, I think you should be nice to people and stop flying the flag of intolerance whenever you feel like it.

I wouldn't hesitate to give a Christian or Jew a religious holiday off - what is your issue exactly ? I often fear that we will hire somebody like you - which would cause an abrupt end to the idea of team spirit. I think I will start asking sensitivity questions in interviews from now on to weed people like you out.

Still wondering what the maximum percentage of Canada's population you're comfortable with as Muslims...

To me, this is a bogus question. Who cares about the percentages of people who believe in any particular "sky fairy"? Hopefully, in this country people have the freedom to believe in any cockamamie thing they want!

A better question would pertain to what specific accommodations are involved and in what context?

For instance, if a person needs to take 5 minutes 5 times a day for a quick prayer, what's the problem? Smokers go for a quick smoke. Old guys like me need a pee break fairly frequently.

However, if we are being asked to accommodate religious services of any kind in a public school, I would say NO! That's why it's called a public school! If you want to bring religion into a school, then have a religious school! Don't change the public one!

It's interesting that we have only had these disputes come up in the last few years, despite having decades if not centuries of immigrants of various faiths and persuasions come into our society's schools and workforce. One cannot help but wonder if some folks have an agenda...

I invite any real Canadian patriot to take a gander at this thread and see for yourself exactly why this country is finished. The apathy of the left and their commitment to continually bend and adjust our values and expectations in the name of "cultural sensitivity" is what fuels the ongoing importing of third-world trash into Canada. We have enough domestic trash, already, but let's keep bringing in foreign trash via family reunification laws (which include plenty of fake marriages) and compassionate refugee laws.

This is similar to the burka issue and women that refuse to show themselves even when in court. How many religious considerations can be made.

At what point is Sharia Law the next logical step?

People who proudly make repugnant statements on minorities are a far bigger problem than individuals requesting time off for religious holidays, IMO.

I'm with you on this one.

It's not about an individual using their vacation time to book off days for their own personal needs, is it? That's not what we're talking about. What we ARE talking about is adjusting and bending in order to "accommodate" minority interests. There should be uniform expectations of everyone, and to ask people to hie their lunches or dedicate prayer rooms for Muslim employees is just another in a long list of examples of us bending to them, rather than the other way around. If you can't mix your needs with your job, perhaps you should look for another job. That includes disabilities, religions, abilities, personal matters, and everything else under the sun.

I think Michael Hardner doesn't realize that Ramadan is a month-long holiday... just another myopic Canadian who doesn't know any real flesh and blood Muslims in any meaningful way. Of course, that won't stop him from making assumptions about their character, values, and way of life.

None of this is true.

Who did that here?

It's the usual rhetoric of the left, as whenever I attack multiculturalism and "sensitivity" policies, I'm immediately smeared as a racist. Nevermind the fact that I have more real and genuine Muslim friends than perhaps everyone in here combined.

This, for example, from Bob:

Not wonder what the hell Abdul is doing washing his feet in the sink is "polite and sensitive"? Pretending not to be disgusted with Fatima's body odour because she's all wrapped up in black on a hot summer day is somehow contrary to being "polite and sensitive"?
