Rank the Republican contenders by order of craziness.

I admit to being less than an expert on the clown show. But what I have heard of most of the Republican contenders seems more than capable of eliciting considerable mirth. I gather Huntsman is considered the least crazy, practically sane. And Mitt Romney is, in this company, considered practically the leading light. So who's craziest? Ron Paul? Christine Bachman? Rich Perry? So much to choose from...

So define crazy. Just because some are religious and believe in something. That's not crazy.

Do we get to have a list of democrats, I'm sure there are some real beauties in there...

Oh, they're pretty crazy. When their answer to a crisis is prayer.....when they allow religion to get in the way of good ideas.

George's snippets had nothing to do with religion ... but I'll never hear someone say "bro" again without cracking up!

Go for it. All I know is that most of them would be a lot better than the disaster currently occupying the White House.

Maybe, maybe not. Romney would be better, and maybe Gingrich (can't stand him), but I'm not sure the rest will do much of anything.

You do know that in both Canada and the USA any citizen has the right to run for public office. Why shouldn't religious people? There have been religious people running the USA since 1776 and its the largest economy in the world. We've had atheists running china and the ussr that have murdered millions of their own citizens. The three top tier candidates are all religious in their own way, they are very successful, and have at one point done a respectable job at being in charge of something, does that make them crazy?

Right now they are all stumbling over each other to try to come off as right wing fundamentalist bible thumpers to appeal to the extreme of the gop base. Soon as the nomination process is over and the winner has to try to appeal to the broader population instead, they will present themselves entirely differently. Politics is lies. There are plenty of examples of them doing a complete about face on many issues.

They do, but they don't have a right to let that get in the way of pragmatic decision making...in fact, that's something they definitely can't do.

Any citizen also has the right to consider politicians with certain views crazy.

And that's why we have a process to weed out people who are legitimately crazy be they atheist or uber religious. I'm sure any rational religious person wouldn't let their religious views interfere with their decision making or they wouldn't have much of a political career.

But that's the point - about half of these people are acting like they would, and in a big way.

Actually they're not. They're mostly talking about economic issues. Taxes, deficit, debt, manufacturing, China, energy, etc. Obviously you're not paying much attention. Much like the OP. That's ok though. Just don't pretend you are.

You have to realize who votes in these primaries, it's just a show for them. If any of these people were as crazy as some would portray them, the republican party would see to it that they are in permanent limbo.

Don't pretend that's all they're talking about. You're just defending them because they're Republicans.

They're acting like wing bats to appeal to a base, and partly as a result, the level that US politics has degenerated to is very dangerous.

And I'll say once again, how bout them democrats... You don't think democrats don't act like wing bats

Not like that. There's not even close to an equivalency on the Democratic side.

I've watched the debates. It's almost exclusively economics.

There's no debates right now on the Democratic side. But I'd say that Joe Biden defending the new Jobs Bill on the basis that rape will increase is pretty damn crazy!
