.... I don't see why asking if someone was born a women would an unreasonable requirement given the many other arbitrary requirements that only exist to promote the contest to the minority of people that are interested in such things.

Because in Canada, y'all passed the Human Rights Act in 1977, which yielded Human Rights Commissions (HRC).

Oh boy! ;)

(pun intended)

Im sure its been said, but it would be more sensible to get rid of these competitions all together. Then you come across the possibility of men competing as women in athletics, do we allow the more accepted version of a woman to be beaten by the more manly women, or does everyone compete with each other and women almost never win anything? I do not envy anyone who feels as though their body does not match their mind, but how do we accommodate everyone? Gender may be a continuum but the majority, the vast majority, fall on the middle of the curve, that has lead to a normalization of many gender roles and identities, those that feel they are the other sex from what they appear to be fall outside of the norm. How far do we go to change our society to accommodate what is a relatively very small number of people? Life truly isnt fair, and it never will be.

You are of course correct; his opinion is in fact true for all like minded bigots in Canada. There are doubtless quite a number of them.

Every nation has it's share - no denying that.

There ya go

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/british-columbia/i-couldnt-care-less-donald-trump-responds-to-transgender-beauty-queen-furor/article2391005/

“Will Jenna be allowed compete or not? Will (Trump) eliminate this abhorrent rule, or not,?” Allred demanded.

Mr. Trump responded to Allred's request on TMZ, the celebrity news website, saying Ms. Talackova is welcome to compete.

“She can take her shot, she can maybe win and maybe she won't win,” he said.

“There will be no apology whatsoever and frankly, if she competes, that's wonderful and if she doesn't want to compete, because maybe she thinks she can't win, that's fine also. I couldn't care less.

Nah. He won't win. And next time he enters this pageant he wob't get past the qualifying round

Who is the "he" you keep referring to?

AFAIC, calling a transgendered person by the wrong pronoun isn't that much different from a racial or gay slur.

One can change their outside appearance. But they can't change their DNA. :)
