Brutal. Just brutal.

Obamacare Marketplace: Personal data can be used for law enforcement and audit activities.

http://m.weeklystandard.com/blogs/obamacare-marketplace-personal-data-can-be-used-law-enforcement-and-audit-activities_762237.html

Hmm...so nothing has changed then I guess.

Personal data can be used for law enforcement prior to ACA in certain situations.

Overwhelmingly !

What's so absurd about people calling the sites for different reasons?

Hmm...do they open the window and call out the site? Maybe a megaphone? Morse code perhaps? TIn can and string?

What do they call them? I hope not shirley.

Ya know, in the vein of persnickety accuracy that you seem to revel in. Why, that would be like voting for Judges.

Doesn't necessarily follow that everyone who was trying to access the site was wanting to sign up.

People were able to access the site. It was when you clicked on the buttons to bring up forms that you ran into trouble.

I don't think it's a stretch to think that people who were trying to bring up forms were trying to sign up.

In any event, there is general agreement that a flood of millions of people overwhelmed the existing servers.

Looks like the White House was warned long in advance about the coming problems, but chose to do nothing.

A perfect illustration of government competence.

I see the Shady complete nonsense propaganda machine is in full swing. Do you have anything to say or are you just using the website to save your bookmarks?

Just reporting the facts of the unaffordable care act. I'm sorry if that's a problem for you.

c'mon Shady... it's just too popular! A five-fold increase over 'worst-case usage' projections. I kind of like the "Canadian angle" being played by a few wingnuts... seems CGI is front-&-center in the development stream. Of course, Republican wingnuts are tying the early Ocare 'growth spurt pains', to those damn socialist contractors from CGI - "failed Canadian software and healthcare"... a daily-double win!

It's not a problem for me, and I am an American. It is a beginning and that is more than any other president in a half of a century has been able to achieve. We can't allow perfect to be the enemy of good when we have so many Americans without access to proper healthcare.

Well said. Last week my dog was vomiting for two days. He could have just had a stomach bug, or he could have swallowed something problematic. He does happen to be an avid chewer. Anyway, the vet fee made me pause and wonder if it was worth getting checked out. I did take him in, pay the fee and it turned out he was fine. Unfortunately, that outcome will probably give me even more pause next time something comes up.

Fortunately, for me paying a vet bill doesn't mean I'll have to eat Kraft Dinner for the rest of the week or won't be able to afford gas for the car...but for some it does. I can't imagine having to decide between paying for a child's healthcare and eating later this week. Yet, that is the case for too man Americans. Still, some people refer to health coverage as just "a nice perk", but contend that it shouldn't be available to all. Blows my mind.

The mistake the GOP are making is NOT allowing Obama to sink with his train wreck of Obamacare. If they did this and let Americans see that Obamacare is not what they expected, the GOP may have a slight shot at both houses and maybe even the presidency. However, the more the GOP try and stop Obamacare, the more years of Democratic economic policy Americans will elect in all houses and in the oval office further weakening what was once a great nation. The US has become the laughing stock of the rest of the world because of idiots on both sides of the aisle and particularly a weak President that is incapable of solving anything or uniting anyone.

Most Liberals see a utopian world under their ideology but IMO when the smoke clears history will show that it was these liberal policies and their

incompetent President that was in power when the back of the US economic and military might finally broke apart. These problems of division and continuing shift to the left in the US will spell bad times ahead for all Americans and the rest of the world and further diminish the US and the West in general. Ultimately it will pave the way for a much lower standard of living for everyone in the West and a much more dangerous world for our children to grow up in. Franky, there's not much the GOP can do to stop where the US is headed anymore since the left is is obviously where the voters want their country to head because they re-elected him and he is delivering exactly what he said he would. I see little reason for that voting trend to change unless there is some major worldwide event that occurs to scare voters in the US back to the GOP.

It blows my mind that people think Americans living hand to mouth have to make such decisions. Children in low income families qualify for Medicaid, not to mention food stamps. Families with modest incomes qualify for CHIP. No one has to make the decision between paying for a child's healthcare and eating later this week.

It's a stretch to think that they were all trying to sign up, which was my point. Many people are accessing the sites, including taking a look at the forms, to find out what it's all about.

It doesn't sound as if "high volume" is the problem.

Todd Park, the White House’s Chief Technology Officer, said that “at lower volumes, it would work fine,” an excuse that has already become the butt of software-industry jokes. We’re constantly told that there are 50 million uninsured Americans who are desperate for subsidized health coverage. But the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, with its $1 trillion-a-year budget, can’t anticipate the need to build a system that can handle the average daily traffic of the Drudge Report?

imagine that! Really calls into question the in-depth coverage we get here in HealthCareSocialistWorld of how so many American families use emergency rooms as their go-to medical choice... you know, the one where costs get thrown back on the American taxpayer at large! According to you it just makes no sense... why are all these American families availing themselves of emergency room medical care... why don't they just use the services you claim are available to them? It makes no sense... it, as you say, blows my mind!

The mistake the GOP are making is NOT allowing Obama to sink with his train wreck of Obamacare.

That is exactly what they should do if they were smart. If Obamacare fails, Republicans will control both houses of Congress possibly as early as 2014 but most certainly by 2016 along with the White House....a clean sweep. Obamacare maybe the program that will fulfill Karl Rove’s dream of establishing a permanent Republican majority.

Methinks the desperation with which they're fighting this healthcare issue now indicates the 'smarter' heads amongst them don't have much faith in that long term prospect. They perceive, however dimly, that it's probably now or never and that maybe this program will do the opposite of what Karl Rove fantasized.

Of course I'm only assuming there actually are any smarter heads capable of thinking beyond 10 minutes from now.

Obamacare has so many faults that I can't believe it was passed in the first place. It boggles the mind, actually - especially since there's virtually no way for the government to collect the fine if someone who doesn't buy insurance refuses to pay the penalty.

The IRS has ways it can collect.

Not to mention the penalty is $95 or 1% of pay to a max of $400 for the first year.

Then the penalty goes to 2.5% in a few years.

Add in the IRS penalties that never stop accumulating

Loss aversion is a dumb idea, but that wont stop some boneheads from trying it.
