All They Need is a Handgun.

The issue for the US is not that it's happening completely out of proportion to the rest of the civilized world. The issue has become, they have the weapons so easily available to these kind of American kids who go off. Now it's time to have a close look at why it's happening so often in the US.

I would suggest that mentally ill people are present in all countries to some degree. But the availability of handguns makes the difference for the US.

But another factor that could come into the equation is that they are immersed in a society and culture of violence. Killing people in other countries with impunity just has to eventually carry over to their attitudes to people in general. It's getting more and more obvious that they place little value on human life and consequently, kids such as this one first think of this sort of remedy to fix his problems.

Mentally ill? Yes, but most likely driven to violence by an ill society with easy access to the weapons that are required to act out his violence.

Guns R Us

I’ve got a gun it ain’t teenie, it makes up for my little weenie

The NRA Song

Guns are neat, Guns are sweet

Guns the tool, what makes you cool.

Guns are fine, Guns are mine

Guns are things, that Jesus brings!

Guns for loonies, Guns for cons

Guns for Moonies, Guns for moms!

Guns are fun for everyone, buy them up by the ton.

Guns for me, Guns for you, Guns for nuts and children too!

Guns at home, Guns at work, Guns at play, Guns berserk!

Tons and tons of great big Guns,

Are tons and tons of great big fun!

I’ve got Guns up my nose ‘tween my ears and by my toes.

I’m no fool, I’m so cool, I take Guns to my school.

I take Guns in my car, to the store and to the bar.

I got Guns in a drawer, in my pocket and on the floor.

I got Guns on the wall, behind the toilet and in the hall.

I got guns in my bed, one is growing from my head!

Get a Gun and get it fast, Gun-Gun shoot-shoot is a blast!

Murders By Handguns

Those who really really want a gun, are the very ones who really, really shouldn’t be allowed to have one.

Nations with the strongest handgun control laws are; Australia, Great Britain, Japan, Canada and Sweden. Each has less than one hundred murders by handgun per year. Here in America, which has the weakest handgun controls, we have about ten thousand handgun murders a year. That’s one hundred times as many, and even with per capita adjustment, it’s always more than ten times as many. Hell, just in the state of Texas, where guns transcend even Jesus, it’s ten times the amount as many countries. In 14 states, gun deaths surpass motor vehicle deaths.

The rationale for our singular national gungoonery is that the only way to be really free is for everyone to run around with a .44 magnum. The rest of the world might adamantly disagree with that, but it makes no difference to a great many Americans who are called gunloons for good reason.

One of the biggest problems is the tens of thousands of guns that are illegally smuggled into America from Mexico. But democrats are never going to agree to much stronger border security because they also get future voters from illegal immigration.

Some arguments supporting the easy access to handguns is that the "bad guys" have the guns and use them to threaten, kill and intimidate the "good guys". The good guys should have easy access to guns so that they can protect themselves.

There is a way to neutralize the intimidation factor. The USA can make it mandatory that any person over the age of 16 has to carry a gun.

That way, no criminal or bad guy would pull out a gun if he/she knew that all the good guys around him/her has a gun and were ready to blow their heads off.

It worked in the old west. Why can't it work now? ;)

Yeah, that will do a lot of good for the little school children! Rather than 16 they should be forced to pack heat when they start school at 6.

I was just watching it on the news. He traveled a lot.

If more Californians had been armed, he would never have managed to kill so many people. In Texas, he would have been dead after just one or two.

Big deal...Americans like guns and like to use them. More effective than knives or hockey sticks:

Every day in the U.S., an average of 289 people are shot. Eighty-six of them die: 30 are murdered, 53 kill themselves, two die accidentally, and one is shot in a police intervention

Every year in the U.S., an average of more than 100,000 people are shot

Canadians get to watch it all on American TV.

Naw. Weatch it on the CBC. Much better than, dare I say, Fox, and we shudder wondering when will they ever learn.

Great attitude! and not out of step with most Americans apparently. This will ensure that the slaughter continues for a long time yet.

Surprised it hasn't boiled to the teabaggers and the socalled socialists getting their guns out and settling a few scores!

America is unique when it comes to guns. Last time I looked there were 270000000 of them in public hands.

If I were in California, I'd be more comfortable armed than not.

I'd be more than willing to change that attitude if you could get rid of all the guns.

Keep me posted.

Well, he did it because he hated women. Canadians know all about that.

Yes...imagine that...an American acting just like a Canadian with a gun.

Tomorrow more people will be shot with "handguns" in the U.S.

We buy handguns....sometimes to use them.

You may want to ask Holder about something called 'Fast and Furious'.

Yep, unfortunately he's successfully stonewalled so far, and hasn't been held accountable. But pretty much nobody in that administration is held accountable, no matter how badly they screw up. Sebelius, Shinseki, Holder, Clinton, etc.

Anyways, I've noticed that the fact the shooter was big into violent video games has been downplayed. I'm wondering why that is.

As far as nobody in that admin being held responsible? Phhhhhhtttttt! But as far as video games being responsible? They're a substitute for the real thing by those who don't qualify to go to a foreign country to kill people. And believe me Shady, it's hard not to qualify because a blood lust for people who speak a different language is pretty much what's expected and needed.

Arizonans over18 can open carry and over 21 can concealed carry without a permit. That didn't stop the the guy who shot Gabriel Giffords from killing six and wounding 13 others.

The two guys who took the shooter down were unarmed.

Not according to other reports:

Loughner was tackled to the ground by 74-year-old retired United States Army Colonel Bill Badger, who had been shot himself, and was further subdued by Maisch and bystanders Roger Sulzgeber and Joseph Zamudio. Zamudio was a CCW holder and had a weapon on his person, but arrived after the shooting had stopped and did not draw his firearm
