What Bonam said.

It also bears mentioning these are probably the most paranoid and panic-stricken times our society has experienced in generations.

I'm surprised Transport Canada is even able to get out of bed in the morning.

Drones are one of the first steps toward autonomous and/or remote-piloted/controlled warfare. I think warfare with nanotechnology will be a huge future concern, where assassinations will be almost impossible to prevent until proper defense mechanisms are put in place. Imagine a spy launching a microscopic flying device that can fly under door cracks and then fly up a politicians nose and rip through a brain artery or self-destruct inside the brain.

Even worse, imagine a drone that mimics a fly, lands on a politicians wall and simply listens in.

Its the Apocalypse I tell you.

That's not so much nanotechnology as MEMS.

Nanotechnology weapons would be like nanite viruses and such. Fortunately we should all have augmented nanite immune systems by then.

How about a nano-swarm I can upload my consciousness to?  That would be so cool. We could switch between or experience awareness thru multiple scattered aspects or expand it the way a bunch of smaller telescopes do when they turn themselves into a giant telescope.  There'd probably be some pretty interesting temporal effects when consciousness was scattered over vast distances. Being spaced-out would take on a new meaning.
