Ashley Madison Data Dump

Recommended Posts

Ashley Madison requires a *real* credit card.

"Real" credit cards that don't have your name on them are easy to get. It doesn't make sense that anyone would use one with their name on it for that purpose.

It doesn't make sense that Ashley Madison could bill a credit card for 2 years unless it was legit. And since the card had Josh Duggar's name and address on it, I don't see how it could be anybody else's.

I think he probably assumed his credit card info was secure with the site... an assumption most of us make when we make online purchases.

And in light of his confession/apology today, I can't see why you'd be trying to argue the point. It's ridiculous.

What is the point you think I'm arguing?

Go to Safeway. Look for the 'Visa Gift Cards'. You can buy one, provide any name and address you want and then use it online. It would be ridiculously easy to frame someone if one is motivated.

You seem to be arguing that Duggar confessed to something other than this Ashley Madison business, and that his credit card being in the data doesn't make sense so it must be an elaborate frame-up. Is that not the case?

If you're just arguing that Josh isn't the smartest guy in DC, I don't think that was actually in doubt.

If you're arguing something else, feel free to expand on it.

Those require identity verification. I've been researching those myself, as I'd like to make anonymous Visa purchases because of reasons.

No they do not because they are 'gift cards' that can be given as gifts to anyone (even minors who are not legally allowed to have credit cards). I have used them when I needed a card with a US address. Edited by TimG

I never said or implied there was any frame up of any kind. What I said was, none of it makes any sense.

I've done the same. You can enter any information you want on those cards.

So did Barak Obama. I don't think anyone can draw an conclusions from someone's name being included in the dump.

No, but there's a lot more personal info leaked pointing to this creep. From the article Kimmy posted:

Someone using a credit card belonging to a Joshua J. Duggar, with a billing address that matches the home in Fayetteville, Arkansas owned by his grandmother Mary—a home that was consistently shown on their now-cancelled TV show, and in which Anna Duggar gave birth to her first child—paid a total of $986.76 for two different monthly Ashley Madison subscriptions from February of 2013 until May of 2015.

In July 2014, he seems to have started a second account that was linked to his home in Oxon Hill, Maryland, where he spent his time lobbying against causes like same-sex marriage. The birthday listed in the data for Duggar’s first account is February 3, 1988, one month off Duggar’s actual birthday of March 3, 1988. The birthday listed for the second account is March 2, 1988.

The zip code trick usually allows you to use a Canadian Credit card to make US based purchases. I use it to pay for HULU and gas at US pumps.

Take the 3 numbers from your postal code, add two zeros and check here (cities by zip code) to see if it's valid. If not add 01, try again and repeat until a valid code is found. This code passes address verification and still shows up as a US address.

And they sell these gift cards in $1000 denominations?

edit to add:

If you guys are just arguing that Josh Duggar is not a particularly crafty individual, I fully concede the point.

But if you're trying to argue that it's something other, I think you're being ridiculous.

Great but...Duggar still admitted to cheating when he was outed. That would be an unlikely move for a guy that didn't actually use Ashley Madison to cheat and makes his living by duping rubes into attacking gay rights for Jesus.

And all of that info could have been entered by someone with access to his home addresses and bdays(which are obviously no secret because they are being used today to *prove* that he created the accounts). It may be fun to pile onto a guy that may deserve it but it is important to remember that this kind of trail could be created by anyone.

Tim..Duggar confessed and apologized. What are you arguing this?

No mention of Ashley Madison whatsoever in that confession. Certainly nothing that answers what I asked:

If he did or didn't do it, it doesn't make sense either way -- why use your real name, your real contact info, why have multiple accounts?

Are you serious? The story broke Aug. 19th and their statement is dated today, Aug, 20th:

Statement from Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar:

Please see the statement below from our son Josh regarding recent media stories about him. When we learned of this late last night our hearts were broken.

Statement from Josh Duggar:

I have been the biggest hypocrite ever. While espousing faith and family values, I have been unfaithful to my wife.

Debate on if it was him and if he cheated or not = over, case closed.

I am trying to explain to people that such evidence does not prove anything and he could have been framed. It matters the next time this kind of story comes up and the person accused does not confess.

Some of them have no set denomination. You can also reload them. With cash.

While I think everyone is in agreement that this guy is bad news, I find it a tad exploitive and kind of paparazzi style to reprint info that was obtained through hackers. It's discerning to view someone's profile on an adult site that was targeted to consenting adults and being copied on a forum. Do we really need to know his turn ons etc. he is not an elected official. Are Canadians just jumping on the bandwagon of American reporting. Do we really need to know about this?

Celebrities of any kind do not enjoy the same degrees of privacy as average people. That's the down side of cashing in on fame! It doesn't just apply to politicians, and I'm sure there's going to be lots more celebrities stumbling out of the closet as more revelations unfold.

Specifically regarding Josh Duggar: he had no choice about being the child of media whores in a breeding contest (they were really trying hard for "20 and counting"), but once he became an adult, Josh was charting his own course and collecting cash from right wing christian sources...any embarassment for him and his fans is fully deserved!

Ashley Madison has been doing immense social good by weakening gender roles and the institution of marriage. It is a shame that this had to happen.

Some married people don't consider a company deliberately enticing people to have secret affairs to be a public service....or maybe I'm too boring to risk turning my comfortable life upside down...who knows! I have nothing against people living whatever lifestyles they want to pursue....if they want to have affairs, then they need to tell their partners and maybe present a case for open marriage or something, but I hope Ashley Madison goes under....and I don't even feel that sorry for all of the clandestine clients cheating and trying to screw around, thinking their information was secret!

taken to a broader level, how does one view the publication of emails/information hacked by political/ideological driven "whistle-blowers"... see WikiLeaks/Manning-Assange, NSA/Snowden, etc.. In this particular case, there's that saying, "mess with the bulls, expect the horns".

I guess that's off this topic, but think of all the things we wouldn't have known about..or would have remained rumours prior to Wikileaks and the Snowden dumps!

You do a fair bit of demonizing toward those who disagree with your socialist progressive views. But you're full of your own style of self-righteousness. One of the reasons I changed from my socialist progressive views was because of hypocrites like you. Your own side is as hateful and intolerant of the other side, as much as you claim the other side is intolerant of your favourite flavour of the month.

And then...if we're to believe you're for real...you joined the side that cornered the market on self righteous hypocrisy!

My position is that individuals have the right to privacy. Breaking that privacy by illegally accessing some private data base is illegal, immoral and should be prosecuted. To publish the names is illegal, immoral and should be prosecuted. To pursue the story by referring to individuals in other media is immoral - and may be an error. This is one bell that cannot be unrung.

I haven't caught up with all the posts yet, but I'm surprised everyone so far who's lamenting the violation of privacy, missed the reason why the hackers did their data dump: Ashley Madison claims to erase information of clients who pay a fee to leave and have their identities scrubbed from the site...obviously they didn't do their jobs...because Joshie old boy and thousands of other cheating philanderer's data was accessible to the hackers. The hackers warned the company to come clean that they didn't really remove old client's data and they refused several times....hence the data dump that everyone's talking about!

I find this whole thing to be really really sad. Hackers might be looked at as unethical, ...... when you expose the members of a website of which it's whole purpose is to hook up people who want an affair, cheat on their spouses. But then you have people cheating on their spouses who are now upset because they got caught.

That's what's fascinating about this sordid little story! It's one of the few times when it's hard to guess where people will line up on an issue and for what reasons.

It was a false flag operation. The New World Order has a Josh Duggar body double who's doing Ashley Madison and porn sites.
