Canadians FEAR Trump...Big Time

Recommended Posts

The only losers are Canadians who have priced themselves out of the game (e.g. CAW/Unifor), with continued lower productivity. Like Trump advocates, Obama has specifically pushed a "Buy American" strategy and repatriation of American jobs, but he is still loved by the Canadian faithful.

Well yeah, as you should expect a lefty to promote.

I never said there weren't a bunch of losers in Canada who also identify with conservatives and as such subscribe to the same whacky trade prescriptions that hollowed out so much of both of our economies.

Sending a billionaire to catch the billionaires who hollowed it out however really takes the cake on stupid.

Maybe the lead poisoning so many of those same corporations caused before they split the scene explains it.

Oh...so it be like all "North Americans" need to unite against this "hollowing" out even though it impacts Canada a lot more if only because of scale ?

The U.S. economy does not exist just to keep Canadians (or Americans) safely employed.

No it's more like 99% or more of the world's population need to unite against it.

Much of rhe economy now seems to exist for no more purpose than concentrating wealth and power into the hands of 1% or less of the population.

Pretty smert use of a planet alright.

Interesting bit from Sanders during a town hall. Where he talks about how tax breaks for the corps did not result in re-investment into the USA. Instead much was outsourced to China, Mexico and the like. Good job!

Long time Republicans are realizing that they are Americans first and Republicans second.

The Donald will never be the Republican candidate for president.

It's already been established that many garden variety "North Americans" have incomes that are higher than "99%" of the world's population, including Canadian auto workers.

Personally, it would appear more like the establishment Republicans are less American than Trump is. I will stick with Trump. He is the man.

Given the state of dissatisfaction with Congress and government in general, if Trump didn't act like such an A hole and surround himself with A holes, he could probably get elected.

Trump's tactics have worked for his campaign so far. He has tapped into something that works for him. He has the most delegates.

"A holes" have a certain wildcat appeal to part of the American electorate. Just ask Dick Cheney.

So I guess the real point someone is trying to make is Trump will win the POTUS because .. Canada ..

That's right. Think what is has done, and would do, for property values in Cape Breton, etc.

The Great State of Florida, a big favourite for Canadian snowbirds, has been called for Donald Trump. Rubio and Cruz are a distant second and third in GOP primary voting tonight.

Marco Rubio congratulates Trump. But will he support him as the nominee ?

It's either that or support Hillary Clinton, because that'll really be the only other option in the end game.

Senator Rubio has suspended his campaign. It is over...for now. Add him to the growing VP list of losers.

Rubio thanked the Lord...but the Lord has chosen Trump !

I believe that if it appears to the Republican Party that they cannot create a brokered convention then a prominent Republican will run as an independent but with Republican Party establishment financial support and backing. They will be forced to give up a shot at the presidency in order to save the Republican control of the House of Representatives and Senate.

Not if the disillusionment spreads down thru various other electable levels of state and local government. Don't the Republicans also count on the same constituents following Trump to secure the House and Senate?

Kasich wins his home state of Ohio, keeping him in the race. Trump's campaign counts on a vote split, but not like this.

Trump is doing well in the South...Kasich...not so much.

CBC provides live coverage of an American primary election.....amazing.

Canada's official FEAR channel ?

WTF is your problem? Of course they provide coverage. You are a tiresome mosquito that hides behind your anonymous signin.

I do not believe so. The Republicans made a mistake when they changed the rules and criteria of gathering delegates for the convention. Trump can count on only about one third of Republicans (or those who became Republicans so they could support him) and without party support he will get no more. The Republicans can still control who they nominate for the House and Senate - unless Trump gets in and damages the Republican brand so badly that none of their legitimate nominees could get elected.

But if Trump's candidacy gets tossed by the Republican establishment won't enough of Trumps supporters stop voting for Republicans everywhere in retaliation, anger disgust...take your pick?

Live coverage of a primary (not general) election ? Evidently, FEAR is a factor.

No worries...it doesn't work that way for congressional races (Senate / House). It's not like in Canada where the party leader can wreak havoc.

The idea of presidential "coattails" is less of a concern...look what happened to Obama...lost both houses after an early advantage.

It will be interesting.

But - we may learn from this. The "winner take all" concept of these primaries is the equivalent of "first past the post" system that we are still using in Canada.

Fortunately, none of our political parties use that system for leadership elections but use a variation of proportional representation. They don't want the screw up that we end up with during our general elections. They may even decide to let us use the same process to elect them.
