And yet Trudeau won the election.  I think those approval ratings are grossly misleading.

Trudeau winning with a lower approval rating than Trump should be an indication that Trump's approval is clearly not a sign of his doom, as the wishful thinkers wish was the case.

You might sympathize with liberal politicians and journalists, not to mention conservative Never Trumpers, who can't understand how this so-called farce-presidency can go on. They don't realize something about themselves though: They are a crucial factor in the Trump ascendancy.

You see, when Trump taunted Kim, he also was in essence taunting establishment voices who appear on television and counsel prudence and protocol. When he criticized protesting athletes, he was also taking aim at sportscasters such as Bob Costas, who denounced Trump's "insulting remarks" but who are despised by viewers who don't want to be lectured at about politics by guys who are paid to broadcast games.

Journalists and intellectuals like to speak in terms of "the narrative." What Trump has done, and what commentators on TV and in print have helped him to do, is prove that they are not critics of the story. They aren't even narrators of it. They are characters in the plot, and the author of it is the very person they presume to diagnose.

With counter-productive enemies like that, Trump doesn't need friends, he can simply rally the enemies of his enemies to vote against the crazy Democrats by voting for him.

Yes....Trump thrives and succeeds on such chaos...smashing previous political and media jackal protocols.    And it drives them nuts.

Rinse and repeat....he's already the damn president...now they have to beat him the hard way.

Which they cannot do, because they play right into hands by being driven nuts by his antics, and refuse to adopt a strategy that could actually beat him. Of course they don't have candidate who could execute the best strategy to win, because the entire primary field has already strayed too far from center to recover.

So the best strategy for them at this point, is to admit defeat, just phone it in and tank, pick Warren or Sanders, get smashed and discredit the far left by showing they can't win the EC, then come back in 2024 without the far left baggage, if possible.

If they wise up in the short run and run Biden, that could lead to learning all the wrong lessons from still losing, thinking that they only lost to Trump because they ran candidates closest to the center in the primary fields of 2016 and 2020, and they need to embrace the far left even more in 2020, because moderate Democrats can't win because they don't energize far left voters who they will continue to mistake for a much larger portion of the American electorate than they really are. Blaming it all on Clinton and Biden's centrism.

If that happens, they lose in 2024 as well.

Here is an early example of Trump punking the media, which helped him start the Obama birther story to begin with...Trump has been playing the media for suckers going back to Bob Arum fight promotions back in the late 70's....where he learned how to do it.

From 2016:

Quote

Trump punks the media

Donald Trump on Friday morning dangled an enticing offer — he would be making a "big statement" in just a few hours about the Barack Obama birther conspiracy that helped launch his political career.

The media took the bait. The cable networks offered wall-to-wall coverage of Trump's plane taxiing at Reagan National Airport (cozying near Hillary Clinton's own "Stronger Together" jet). With Trump running late for the 10 a.m. news conference, the image of an empty podium was flashed for more than an hour. And when Trump finally did appear, he got more than 20 minutes of free airtime promoting his new Washington hotel and showcasing endorsements from Medal of Honor recipients.

Only after that extended infomercial did Trump deliver the goods — a speedy statement that Obama was indeed born in the United States, coupled with a blatantly false accusation that Hillary Clinton started the conspiracy to begin with.

The media got punked.

“It's hard to imagine this as anything other than a political Rick-roll,” CNN anchor Jake Tapper vented on air after Trump’s hotel event. His colleague John King followed up with, “We just got played.”

CNN is still pissed off at Trump for punking them then...and now.

Obama actually started the birther thing himself, claiming he was born in Kenya when he ran for the Illinois Senate, even wrote it in a booklet to promote his candidacy. Clinton then tried to use it to little effect in 2008, and only then did Trump pile on a few years later, and the media tried to front like it was all a Republican conspiracy the entire time after they ran with it after he was elected. The media's selective memory bias on display yet again.

Exactly...Trump took an obvious fiction and was still able to ride it into presidential political relevance...and victory.

...and the media keeps falling for the bait.

It did help Obama too. Obama 4D Chess to plant a clearly false story to be used as bait to make his political opponents look crazy when they brought it up, another example of others abandoning the center to him.

The Obama Derangement Syndrome Republicans played right into his hands and helped make it a lock that he was re-elected in 2012. Trump didn't give a shit about the Republicans winning in 2012 though, so he helped throw them under the bus by getting them to focus too much on the birther thing, while helping himself.

Sometimes the GOP are bigger cucks than the Democrats,  with Trump's antics catching them off guard.    Mitt Romney (loser) is the biggest cuck of all.

The 2020 presidential campaign will find Trump fully back into campaign circus mode, having the time of his life.

Will be great fun to watch.

Consider that Mitt Romney got destroyed for mumbling the truth that 47% of Americans don't pay any income taxes, while Donald Trump rode to presidential victory based on Obama birther lies.

That, ladies and gents, summarizes the media genius of Donald Trump.

Democrats are already hemorrhaging support in key battlegrounds states, and Trump hasn't even gotten started on them yet. By the time the finally have a nominee and Trump is focusing fire on them, their campaign will already be doomed.

The fact that he attacked Ted Cruz on the birther thing to was also a stroke of genius, good luck pretending it was based on racial animus to attack Obama for it, when he attacks Ted Cruz for being a secret Canadian too. Great branding by Trump, he turned the birther thing into America First, while the media devolved into "the boy who cried reycist".

What world are you in?Go look at the results in Kentucky and Virginia this morning. Kentucky responded to Trump telling them he needed a victory very clearly.

Impeach does not mean move on.....Bill Clinton was impeached yet still served two full terms.

Trump still has higher job approval ratings than Trudeau, Merkel, Macron, and May/Johnson.

Clinton was never impeached as you are well aware.

Only 66% of Canadians voted and the Liberals got the second-highest vote totals, at about 33%. So only about 22% of our eligible voters actively supported him.

Ridings in the Maritimes are relatively small, only about 75K voters each. Their votes are worth 150% of what Alberta votes are worth.

People who do not vote have no say. They choose to have no say. Givng them an opinion as you do to count them as not being for Trudeau is is an illogical inference.

Kentucky isn't a swing state. Trump doesn't need Virginia either.

Please provide where he said he was born in Kenya. He never did and I am no Obama supporter but that is false.

In a promotional booklet in 1991. He allowed himself to be promoted that way, then when he needed to be American to properly promote himself for political office, he promoted himself that way as well. Barry Soetoro is like Elizabeth Warren claiming to be an Indian, when it's advantageous to do so, notice she isn't doing that anymore, same-same.

Obama is like Elizabeth Warren claiming to be part Native, except he is happy to have it both ways depending on the situation.

Andrew Breitbart was never a “Birther,” and Breitbart News is a site that has never advocated the narrative of “Birtherism.” In fact, Andrew believed, as we do, that President Barack Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on August 4, 1961.

lol check your sources next time.

Never said he wasn't born in Hawaii, I said he promoted himself as Kenyan when it suited his purposes.

He's like Elizabeth Warren claiming to be part Indian.

Fake Kenyan, Fake Indian, same-same. One was a fake nationality and the other was a fake ethnicity, that's the key difference.

lol reading comprehension next time.

Kentucky is a traditionally Republican state. Trump made a speech saying Kentucky must vote for a Republican or it would be a personal defeat for him. Go play back his speech.

Your response shows your original assertion he claims he was Kenyan is false. Now you follow up with an equally as false if not absurd claim that he engaged in a conspiracy to infer he was Kenyan it because you claim to have read something that gave you that impression. Come on Y get real.
