The_Squid 69
It's not a real lifetime ban... it's a tax on people stupid enough to be honest with border guards... he can pay $600 and get back into the country no problem.
bush_cheney2004 4,182
The very notion of a lifetime ban is pathetic for anyone who considers crossing the U.S. border to be essential. Many Americans have never visited Disneyland, let alone pot smokers from Canada, and they manage to survive just fine.
Bryan 2
That's the point.....develop more travel options whether warm or not. The pot smoker wanted to take his daughter to Disneyland, not escape the frozen tundra. There are MANY travel options for all seasons. There are only a few Disney parks, all of which require out of country travel if you don't already live in a country that has one. The two good ones are relatively close, the two sucky ones are quite far.

Agreed...so what is the significance of going to Disneyland if not to solicit sympathy for his daughter and his situation ? His daughter can likely cross the border with a guardian who isn't a doper and go see Mickey in Anaheim.

A trip that far and that expensive is rarely just a matter of "crossing the border". They probably planned for it for a long time and made the arrangements that they were capable of making. The border crossing is the least important part, that's why they were so blindsided by not being allowed to cross. It's such a common, usually hassle-free event that there's no rational reason to expect that it might go sideways.

A trip that far and that expensive is rarely just a matter of "crossing the border". It's just a road trip easily completed by common motor vehicle. Lots of families fly instead. Few bring their copy of High Times with them. They probably planned for it for a long time and made the arrangements that they were capable of making. More conjecture: Now his daughter in school be like, "OMG...couldn't go to Disneyland....'cause Daddy is a pot head". cybercoma 29
I don't know why anyone would go to Disney World anyway. They collect your fingerprints to make sure you're not sharing tickets. They can shove their biometric scanning where the Mouse don't shine.

Disneyland and Disney World are two completely different things, in different states.

taxme 928
An easy way around this is to never use drugs. If this reduces the employment value of some one who has used pot, it makes me more valuable. I see it as a win. The easy way around this is to just say to whomever that you never smoked the stuff. it could save you a whole lot of trouble.
