Urban vs. Rural Culture and the US Election

How would you get states to remain in the union if they didn't get some kind of say in an election? At that point they might as well secede and form their own country.

You know this is how it works in Canada too, of course.

That is the reason it makes sense. One place with more people should not be able to dictate policy for ten other places with less people. They each have different concerns.

Simple: respect the right to self determination of states, and give them the option to leave the union if they don't like it. Then you can give all votes equal rate and states can leave if they feel they are being ignored or screwed over.
