Not sure what the point of another "whine about Trump" thread is.  Obama lied his ass off, and sent the press secretary out to lie whenever he felt like it.

True, too many threads about Trump but it is the way the moderator wants his forum to run.

So you think we should just let Trump's incessant lying go unnoticed?

What are you talking about?  I ask because you tend to believe any BS you hear until asked for details, and then you forget what you're talking about, complain about trolling, and scurry away.

I'm not getting paid by this publication, honest, but this article by Russian journalist, Masha Gessen (now based in New York which is probably a good idea), is such a good analysis of Trump's alternative fact tendency that I am going to post it yet again. In essence, for Putin and Trump, lying is an expression of power, showing who is able to alter reality:

Sure...that was obvious from the git go...Trump knows the power of media and totally dominated business as usual.  He even told us what he was going to do, but nobody could do a damn thing about it.   Brilliant !

No. My point if I must clarify is that in contrast, Hillary was more repugnant to the Dems than Trump was to the Republicans. Perhaps because leftists are so easily offended.

No it's likelier that the farther right the politicians go the more sycophantic their supporters get.

Did he?

Why are so many Americans so willing to accept, support, condone and excuse Trump's behavior because one of the Clintons or Obama did something unethical?

Your assumption is incorrect. The Trump supporters are willing to excuse Trump's behavior simply because he's Trump and they are utterly credulous, adoring and unconditional supporters. This has nothing to do with what other politicians might, in the past, have deceived anyone. They simply bring up the occasional error or lie by some other politician in the past as an excuse. Ie, Trump tells blatant, bald-faced lie after bald faced lie, many times a speech, so they look around and find a single occasion years ago where some other politician might have told a lie as if that excuses their guy.

You should be familiar with this tactic since you use it yourself frequently to excuse Islamic terrorism and barbaric cultural practices.

And this post above is an example of a lie in itself, or perhaps we should call it 'alternative facts'.

What on earth makes you think Trump's supporters care about him being a liar when they lie all the time themselves?

Most of them are lying to THEMSELVES, as well.

Being offended by lies is hardly a partisan matter. Trump offended Cruz as much as anybody with his musings on the JFK assassination and his message is nativist rather than right or left.

Few were keen on Hillary but Trump's lies are off the scale. They are way beyond the acceptable level of deceit that we expect from politicians. As PJ O'Rourke put it:

Quote

“I am endorsing Hillary. And all her lies and all her empty promises. I am endorsing Hillary. The second worst thing that could happen to this country. But she’s way behind in second place, you know? She’s wrong about absolutely everything – but she’s wrong within normal parameters.”

Well you let Obama lie his ass off. and defended his lies.  At least you could be consistent.

But it wasn't just about Republican voters (see your comments above).   Trump lied while attacking Clinton and other Republicans for lying.

Which comment?  There are some conservative democrats like the joe manchin types(usually coming from west virginia and kentucky), who are basically republicans, they vote for trump for an attitude of racism, sexism and bigotry.  The only reason they don't vote republican typically is because the republicans traditionally hurt their economic interest ie. Republicans who want to cut government would cut alot of these cops, firemen, etc jobs.

But that's exactly why Trump's lies were acceptable...they were outrageous on purpose...to garner attention.   It worked.....

You are completely incapable of backing up your assertions in any form without crying "Benghazi," and that just makes it look like you haven't been paying attention.

Trump is from that day as well, and that's why he knew how to break all the rules...on purpose.   Total political chaos...destroy all enemies...win election.

Rinse and repeat.

No, his lies are qualitatively different from what we have seen before. They don't bend the truth, they break it into smithereens every day of the week.

Ask the last guy who promised "Hope and Change".....Trump is providing lots of the latter.

The country will be fine....that's how it got to be the global superpower that it is.

To become another Russia? Hey, Russia is doing fine! Well, the oligarchs on top are, anyway. And isn't that really all that matters?

Trump lied again about all those phantom voters he says voted for Clinton instead of him. Another childish, petty lie that serves no purpose but to once again point out how narcissistic and dishonest the man is.

President Donald Trump has revived a baseless claim he made shortly after winning the November election that he lost the national popular vote to Hillary Clinton because of voter fraud. Multiple media outlets have reported that Trump made the comments during a meeting with congressional leaders on Monday.
