Is Donald Trump the Worst President since Andrew Johnson or James Buchanan?

Recommended Posts

The three stooges Donald Trump, Andrew Johnson, James Buchanan are neck and neck for having the dubious honor of being the worst Commander in Chief.

It's slowly sinking in on Republicans that Trump is working towards becoming the worst president ever.

Some of Donald Trumps achievement’s so far… talking about his penis size during a presidential debate, who talked about grabbing women’s genitals without her consent, who lied about the size of the crowds on his inauguration day, coordination between Donald Trump's campaign and the Russian government during the presidential election, who suggested equivalency between white supremacists and anti-racists. And the list goes on in his short 7 month tenure.

No matter how much cheerleading Faux News does, Republicans are realizing that their Republican president is authenticating that he is an idiot.

So who do you think is the worst president?

George W Bush must be laughing his ass off.

A complete lack of any western politicians bragging about how tough they're being on China.

Why do people say things that are so silly I guess you like the way Government works against people . I only have one other thing to say and that is any one person that would choose Clinton over Trump

Trump's a complete ass, but he's by far not even close to being the worst POTUS.  Consider how many American lives James Buchanan may have been responsible for having been killed via how he did nothing while a civil war broke out.  Or the lives LBJ took sending young men to Vietnam to kill millions of Vietnamese, or the lives W. Bush took in in Iraq & turned the region into a powder-keg.

Trump says really dumb things and sometimes does dumb things.  He'd probably win most arrogant & ignorant POTUS ever.

He's only a few months in, though.   Lots of time for him to out-perform all those others.

A lot of what we hear being SAID about him is rhetoric. It gets harder and harder to discern actual stupidity from the fake news being spread. If you were to actually list real things he's done or said that are truly "offensive", not just the opinions and exaggerations of what other people think, you'd come up pretty short. Most people don't have time to filter through the noise, which has now become practically impossible.

Ironically we live in this wonderful age of information, and most of the time we use it to confuse each other and tell lies.

You're being completely deceptive. You are conservative, aren't you?

You have a much better grasp of yourself that I thought, OftenWrong.

All of them. War criminals, terrorists, purveyors of genocide can't ever be describes as good. Do we hold discussions on the intrinsic merits of Hitler, Goering, Pol Pot, Lyndon B Johnson, Richard Nixon, Reagan, Bush, ... ?

You don't have to follow the news, simply listen to his continuous contradictory statements.

What fake news, exactly?  He's on camera and microphone saying and doing stupid things.

I still think the big winner is G.W.Bush.

The invasion of Iraq left a power vacuum that made the entire middle east a bigger mess than it was before.

The deregulation's that arguably lead to the crash of 2008.

James Buchanan was a disgrace but his failures did not effect the world the way G.W.Bush did.

GW Bush did, however, keep the country together after 9/11.  The Middle East can't be solved by one administration, and althoughI don't agree with the methods I do believe that they made an effort to create a democracy in Iraq, true to American values.  Trump is faltering on minor issues and creating crises where there were none before, eg. engaging in a pissing war with NK, and giving comfort to White Supremecists

Here you are writing more fabrications about American values. The invasion of Iraq was the ultimate war crime. You know full well that it was based on lies, which are thee archetypical American values. You have no idea what they tried to create in Iraq. You operate on a set of lies and propaganda that goes back centuries and in all that time has not produced that which you seem to think is the real USA.

The US can never solve anything because they are nothing more than thieving gangsters. How can you think for one moment that the US had anything good planned for Iraq after planning a genocide against the Iraqi people?

Johnson will always be equated with Viet Nam, a war he inherited BTW.

Legislation passed under Johnson.

What matter is it that Johnson inherited this massive war crime? He was part and parcel of these war crimes. Johnson started bombing Cambodia years before the arch war criminal Nixon got into power.

Great post.  This was an era of progressive legislation.  Chomsky even lauds Nixon's environmental and consumer protection legislation.

A dismal post. Is your next one set to laud Hitler for how he turned the German economy around, really got Germany on its feet?

We can debate back and forth about Trump actually giving comfort to white supremacists, but I cannot agree whatsoever on your comment about North Korea. They've just crossed an important nuclear milestone. Someone threatens to burn your country to the ground, then develops the weapons and method of deployment to be able to do so. I'm sure you're aware of it, so what leads you to make a statement like this?

On the other point, copied from CNN-

"Racism is evil -- and those who cause violence in its name are criminals and thugs, including KKK, neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and other hate groups are repugnant to everything we hold dear as Americans," Trump said in response to the attacks in Charlottesville, Virginia, over the weekend. "Those who spread violence in the name of bigotry strike at the very core of America."

Not good enough? Comfort to White Supremacists?

Yes, successive US presidents have often threatened Korea with just that. And the US actually did so, burn Korea to the ground from roughly 1944 until 1953.

He kept making ultimatums against Kim making further threats, which then happened.  I guess Kim didn't read The Art of the Deal.  Finally the diplomats got everything under control.  Trump did achieve a 15-0 vote in the UN, likely because the world thought he was going to try to attack NK.

Now there's a bit of an overstatement if I ever heard one. You think Fat Kim has the wherewithal to burn down the US? Not even close. Even if he gave it his best shot, THAD would knock his stuff down, and then the US would have an excuse to respond. And who knows what that would look like with Trump's little fingers reaching for the buttons?

Kim made threats and showed his missiles, Trump made counter threats. If you want to pick it apart like that, it's up to you. No sensible president of any country would allow their citizens to be threatened with nuclear annihilation and sit quietly doing nothing.

Now if you wish you can show me how you write off the time when Kim said he would launch 4 missiles toward Guam, but after threats by Trump Kim appears to have stood down, at least for now.
