C'mon, did you even read my post on the last page?  As long as idiots think that they're just gonna say "no guns allowed" and the world will be good, nothing will get done - nothing!  You have to at least do things that are within reason.

Have a problem with reading comprehension? I posted that no one is wanting to take away all guns. Just the ones that should only be in the hands of the military, and others should be allowed in the hands that can simply show they have not posted facebook posts that they intend to become school shooters. What do you not get about that?

P.S - We have all those same weapons in Canada, so it's not really so much about guns as it is about something else in their culture.

There are some difference in Canada w.r.t. what guns are available, but the big difference is the capacity of magazines. Anything that supports more than three rounds should be illegal - period. No silly putting a rivet in to limit capacity either.

OK, well, taking away semi-autos, is taking away guns.

The did it in Australia.

Are you OK with revolvers then?

Agreed, limiting magazine sizes should be on the table.

As for taking away guns as Australia did, the culture is different.  That's what you people don't get, it's not the guns that is the problem, it's the culture.

The 2016 La Loche "mass shooting" in Canada involved an unrestricted shotgun based on media reports (for some reason it is difficult to determine exactly what kind of shotgun was used in the home/school murders.)    Manual, pump action shotguns with barrels longer than 470mm can have unlimited magazine capacity, but in practice is from 7 to 11 depending on shell length.   Tube extenders or dual tube shotguns can have many more, of course.

All legal in Canada.

People in Canada have shotguns for hunting. And yep, once in a while a whacko will get hold of one. You have a lot more guns and a lot more whackos. That's why your gun deaths are about ten times what ours are. But keep trying to deflect. Nobody's really buying.

So, all we're talking about is number of rounds.  Meaning that a 8 shot revolver is really no different than an 8 shot magazine in a semi-auto.  Wouldn't you agree?

An AR 15 can hold a 30 round mag and are far more deadly than anything you can stick into a revolver.

Perhaps you are not really familiar with firearms.

Well, you'd be OK with an AR-15 if regulations only accepted an 8 round magazine, right?  Besides, over 90% of murders are done with a handgun and if you'll accept a revolver (as you state you would), you'd surely accept something like a Glock 21 or Sig with an 8 round magazine - right?

Nobody really needs an assault rifle down on mainstreet USA. Limiting purchases of other types of weapons who can pass a background check is what I'm OK with.

An Ar-15 with .223 or 5.56 is a smaller bullitt and less leathel than either the .44 magnum or the .45ACP (both revolver shells).  IOW, an 8 shot .45 would do more damage than an 8 shot AR-15.

Not in your lifetime. A 44 could do damage across a hallway. AR 15 across a play field. Check muzzle velocity for starters. And then there is tumble. You've never been in a war zone obviously.

I get it, but I don't get you. you seem to want to bury your head in the sand and let guns prevail. Any bets ehen the next shool shooting will occur?

You have admitted that you'd allow 8 shot hand guns, yet you refuse to allow an AR-15 with an 8 shot mag.  In a school setting, an 8 shot hand gun will do as much or more damage than an 8 shot AR-15.  It's about "common sense gun control".  You have no common sense, you are afraid of certain guns based on how scary they look, not what they can do.

Once again, the most common firearms used in American "mass shootings" are handguns, not "assault rifles"....

Quote

Myth: An assault weapons ban would work. They found that the typical weapon used is a pistol, not an “assault weapon” like the semi-automatic AR-15 rifle. Assault weapons were used in 24.6 percent of mass shootings, handguns in 47.9 percent. And limiting the size of magazines weapons can carry wouldn’t help, they said, because any ban would impact new sales and “there is an ample supply of large capacity magazines already in circulation.”

Handguns are used in the "vast majority" of U.S. gun homicides and suicides.

Pay attention l'il buddy, I'll explain it to you once more:  nobody needs an assault rifle down on their street. If you want  to own a hunting rifle or a handgun if you feel paranoid, then go get one, after you pass a background check.

Well then just ignore the gun issue and keep shooting each other. Schools, churches, on the street, wherever you prefer.
