If the media wants to follow him ,then rent a bus. And it seems ford was busy for that debate. But he said he will debate her, in front of the jail that will be holding livingston. LOL

Exactly, let them pay their own way..  meanwhile, the media is right on it as it like like the Liberals have dredged up this 2013 Globe and Mail story now that the Ford campaign bus is on the road. IMO we should be more concerned about Liberal political corruption and malfeasance today, than what Ford, who has never been charged with anything, allegedly did starting at age 15, 39 years ago:

From the article.

Quote

There were usually a number of dealers to choose from, some of them supplied by a mainstay at James Gardens – a young man with the hulk-like frame and mop of bright blond hair: Doug Ford. “Most people didn’t approach Doug looking for product. You went to the guys that he supplied. Because if Doug didn’t know you and trust you, he wouldn’t even roll down his window,” Justin said.

Given the diverse mix of conservatives that Conservatives like to attract to their big tent might you might want to point to this story as evidence of Ford's business acumen. He sounds like he was pretty successful at what he did alright. Business acumen is usually very highly touted in right-wing political campaigns.

Interestingly Ford wants to let the free market shape Ontario's pot policies which would surely attract a higher number of votes than social conservatives might hope to garner by being anti-pot.  Speaking of which what sort of pot policies are social conservatives in Ontario proposing, I'm loathe to imagine what they'd have to come up that would ever justify them trying to characterize Liberal policies as being too progressive.  The Liberal's policy looks like something out of North Korea.

Needless to say Ford appears to be leaning towards the most progressive policy on pot in the solar system.  Ontario must be an interesting time and place in which to be a Conservative these days.

I actually don't know. SoCon policies revolve more around sexuality issues. I guess since it's a Federal thing they can claim they have no choice on the issue.

DoFo's Libertarian view of Alcohol and Cannabis sales is so refreshing. The "Will Someone PLEASE Thing of the Children" that'll likely come from Wynne and Co will be annoying if not predictable. Also completely irrational.

The big problem will be the public opposition to where these Government dispensaries will be located. The NIMBYism will be strong.

Ford can't do anything about abortion, it's a strawman argument here, the only thing the province can do is legislate distances for protests and so on.   Ford has said 'think of the children' also,  but either way the Liberals are on the defensive as they are getting dirty. Well, more dirty than usual.

Exactly.  Doug Ford may allegedly have been a dealer in his youth but if true, he's never been charged.   At this point I'm more concerned about today and ridding the province of the corrupt Liberals who are desperate as they trot out smear, fear and lies.

Scribblet is right. There is no reason to even bring up the fact that Doug is apparently the kind of person to do considerable business with bikers. That's just dirty politics. The voters should not be allowed to hear this. Doug said he was going to sue the G&M about it. He didn't, but he said he would! It's like those people who think it's relevant when politicians are owned by Russian mobsters. We must all yell "Fake News!" when we hear someone tell us the truth and blame the media!

Scribblet was also right to blame the Star when his brother was caught smoking crack, and Doug was right to go after them too! They may have been telling the truth, but voters don't want that! It's old news that reflects poorly on their character!

Rob Ford was a tragic character. Anyone with a clue to who the man actually was - knows that he spent most of his waking hours answering calls and working for the "little guys". He had a heart as big as anyone's. The tragedy was in his inner demons - an introverted soul whose escape led him to drugs. The Star - hating what Ford's politics stood for - seized on every opportunity to bring the man down.....from his initial campaign all the way through his mayorship. The Star embodied the ruthlessness of the Left - and is not veering from that course as they continue to try to drag THIS Ford down and buoy support for Wynne.

Doug Ford attacked the Star reporters for reporting the truth. If a Liberal politician was smoking crack with gangsters, you wouldn't be blaming the media for reporting on it.  The truth isn't right wing or left wing. They just did their jobs and you continue to attack them for it. Kind of pathetic, really.

You certainly are entitled to your opinion but I don't see the need to call mine "pathetic". If you read the Star every day, you would have remembered that their coverage went far beyond reporting the facts. They perpetrated a daily flogging of his character and his policies from Day 1 - and to their regret, those attacks drove up his popularity. They had plenty of ammunition without getting so viciously personal. I've never seen the like of it. A good example was his Don Bosco football coaching. He donated $20,000 to equip the team and started the Rob Ford Foundation to raise money for other schools in underprivileged areas. He was alleged to have had a physical confrontation with a player in his past......the Star milked that unproven allegation for weeks. He later solicited donations to help the foundation - the Star made hay of the fact that some letters went out on his Mayoralty stationary. THAT story was regurgitated ad-nauseum as leftist councillors tried to pillory him on ethical charges. Imagine - trying to raise funds for under-privileged kids to play football and stay out of trouble. What hypocrits. Day after day - it never stopped. Rob Ford has his opportunity to be a good mayor - and he blew it. He did not need The Star to drag him through the gutter.

As I said - Rob Ford was a tragic figure - whose heart was in the right place.

Ironically, the Star's choice for mayor was George Smitherman - a person with his own drug demons who presided over the eHealth and  Green Energy Act debacles.

So tragic and unfair that The Star made the Mayor's crack use while in office an issue....

Whaaaaaaaaat ?

Why Ontario wants to install this crew of organized criminals is a real head scratcher to me...

As I said - tragic or not, he had his chance and he blew it.  As for The Star - it's a head-scratcher if you haven't caught on that they detest anything Conservative. They don't save their criticisms for the editorial pages - every article is steeped in either anti-Conservative or pro-Liberal editorializing. Doug Ford has never been convicted of anything. He might get HIS chance - but it won't be with any help from The Star. I've said my piece. You've said yours. Let's see what the people say.

Actually, I'm not done.  He's a half-wit, and inherits a legacy of shame.

It's absolutely pathetic what Conservatives have now become.  They had a chance to embrace intelligent and pragmatic conservatism, the non-divisive kind that made Ontario great in the past and they elected a moronic clown.

I think Wynne is cynical and would never praise her.  The best I have heard any reasonable conservative say is that he's better than Wynne.  I won't argue with that as it's a personal view.

Yes and Liberals are equally divisive. For every political action, an equal and opposite reaction. Or maybe not equal... it seems it escalates.
The question of why Doug Ford relates to a larger issue, how easily voters in a democracy can be subverted through the use of media.

You want to see a gang of criminals. Read all about it.

“In order for that to not show up on the bottom line, they created creative accounting to take it off the government’s statements,” Ms. Lysyk said.

Using that new accounting, the government declared it had balanced the province’s books for the fiscal year ended Mar. 31, 2018, just months before a general election. But Ms. Lysyk said that was not true. And the Financial Accountability Office, the body responsible for providing the legislative assembly with independent analysis and advice on Ontario’s finances, agreed: In December, it forecast that the province would actually rack up a deficit of $4-billion – a discrepancy that will grow markedly as the government’s off-balance-sheet borrowing continues.

Doug Ford obviously is not his brother, but as for 'organized crime', we know that is the bailiwick of the Liberal Party.  This U.S. style fear and smear campaign started by the Wynne Liberals is sad as it is so obvious they can't run on their record so they have to malign the opposition with distortion, misrepresentation and lies.  e.g.  One recently released Liberal attack ad claims Ford will “fire 40,000 people, including teachers and nurses.”   Ford has never said anything like that at all.

Now the foreign funded far left group LeadNow are running ads and sending out messages saying people died due to Mike Harris cuts...   more fear and smear based on distortions but the saddest part is that people buy into it.

.  A recent poll has the Liberals trailing badly, even a possibility of losing registered party status, if they do, they deserve what they get.

Shocking to you perhaps. I suspect many residents of Ontario probably do not know who funds the CBC.

Most Canadians are so stunned that they believe that it is not their money that pays for things even the CBC. It is the governments money. They must think that the government grows money trees behind parliament. These are the ones that the rest of us sane people have to live with. So many Canadians out there are so clueless and stunned is bloody sad.

The only way for any politician to try and make head way in Ontario is for someone to come forward and speak political incorrectness and really tell the people what they need to be told. Trump did it and he is now President. Trying to appease liberalism will never work. Liberalism needs to be challenged not coddled. Doug Ford needs to hammer the liberals hard and point out to all the taxpayer's the tax dollars that they have blown on useless liberal communist programs and agendas that are destroying Ontario. Otherwise, Ford will go nowhere. People want to hear from a man not a mouse. My opinion and I approve of this message.  :D

The liberal fake and phony lying media like the Star and the liberal party themselves will be using Doug's brother's past history to try and destroy him, and he will let them get away with it. If they do he should tell them to go screw off and leave my brother out of this election. Ford needs to speak political incorrectness and tell the people want they want to hear. The liberals are nothing more than a bunch of lying thieves and cheats. Avoiding attacking them and what they have done to Ontario will get him nowhere. They will play dirty and Ford needs to do that also. Attack the batards fiercely and call them out for what they are. The only way that he may have a chance to win is to hammer away at them.

Liberals will be in trouble if Ford really takes them on and calls them for what they really are. A bunch of liars, cheats and thieves and Ford has all the proof to be able to get away with saying that.  But will he? Trump did it to Hillary and he is now President. When you say it as it is and what people really want to hear you will get the ear of the voter. Sadly though, I believe that Ontario has become to majority liberal and to majority welfare and that will be a tough won for Ford to try and beat. This could be the last opportunity that the conservatives will ever have a chance to take the reins of power away from the liberals. And if they do I hope that they will start acting more like conservatives, and not like red Tories. Wipe liberalism out.

You wouldn't care if the Ford's had him offed if he was a drug-taking scumbag? And then a deflection to creative accounting? Good argument. How Trumpy of you!
