And if you refuse to come to work for free?

Can't feel good that jobs that have real implications on National Security and Food Safety are being forced to Volunteer.

Not reporting for work as an essential employee would follow the same procedure as if there was no shutdown.

All of the U.S. armed forces on active duty are volunteers.....even when they get stop lossed.    Refusing to come to work is called absent without leave (AWOL).

Isn't it the unions job to have money saved up for work stoppages?

I agree. They signed up for it as volunteers. They're working for their country. They should have no expectation of remuneration. Screw them all.

Are you telling me that under US law there’s no assurance that these workers will be paid?

There's no clause in the constitution which asserts a right to a job for life from the government, they are free to resign and return to the private sector as they may.

Well, this may come as a surprise to you, but U.S. presidents are subject to term limits and elections at 4 years.  It is not in any way considered to be death, painful or otherwise, unless they are assassinated or succumb to a terminal disease.

Donald Trump remains more popular with his base and independents than several previous presidents who have served two full terms.   He will have his presidency like all the others, and many books will be written, like all the others, and he will forever be the 45th President of the United States.

I can explain metaphors to you if you wish.  And you are right - he will always be remembered as the 45th and most dysfunctional president of the US.  Today he hurt himself a little more by refusing to give a congressional delegation access to a military flight; something no other president has ever done.  Not only that he placed all of the lives of such a delegation in danger by revealing its itinerary.  This is childish spite at best.  As I have pointed out previously in this thread, Trump is his own worst enemy.  And Trump's support from his base appears to be weakening.  It will probably continue to do so as the Trump shutdown continues, especially as many of those affected probably voted for him.

President Lincoln actually had a member of Congress arrested ...Trump hasn't done that yet.  Stay tuned....

I saw on the News this morning that Trump didn't realize his new AG appointee and Mueller are actually friends.

Donald Trump was 'startled' after watching William Barr's attorney general confirmation hearing on Tuesday, after the 68-year-old spoke about his tight friendship with Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

The president complained to his aides that 'he didn't realize how much their work overlapped or that they were so close' when he nominated him, according to CNN.

After watching Barr speak at the Senate Judiciary Committee, POTUS was caught 'off-guard' and 'bristled' as he had to listen to details of their history but he later calmed himself by putting their familiarity with each other purely down Washington business.

What a fucking Moron.

.....and meanwhile, things that actually matter - things that everyone said couldn't be done......keep getting done:

China has offered to go on a six-year buying spree to ramp up imports from the U.S., in a move that would reconfigure the relationship between the world’s two largest economies, according to officials familiar with the negotiations.

By increasing goods imports from the U.S. by a combined value of more than $1 trillion over that period, China would seek to reduce its trade surplus -- which last year stood at $323 billion -- to zero by 2024, one of the people said. The officials asked not to be named as the discussions aren’t public.

Funny how media like Buzzfeed are ridiculed by the MSM - until they report supposed dirt on Trump.......they automatically become a viable news outlet.

The right has changed by selling out to russia

I was unaware of this.  Please explain how the right sold out to Russia.  I don't know many people further right than me, and I still consider Russia an enemy of the west.

Manafort giving internal data  to

Konstantin Kilimnik, a Russian business associate with ties to Russian intelligence

The contested swing states that Trump narrowly—and surprisingly—won, such as Michigan and Wisconsin, were also places where both the Trump campaign and Russia’s Internet Research Agency focussed their efforts. Herein lies at least one answer to the question of why Russia would want the Trump campaign’s polling data: it potentially offered demographic targets for Russia’s bots and propaganda.

Kilimnik was indicted by Special Counsel Robert Mueller's grand jury on June 8, 2018 on charges of obstruction of justice and conspiracy to obstruct justice by attempting to tamper with a witness on behalf of Manafort.

We haven't sold out to Russia, you can't sell the Declaration of Independence out, because we don't own it, it is a gift to the world from the Founders, Jefferson & Co

By the Declaration of Independence, the right of the Western World, which is classical liberal limited government conservatism, does not recognize "collusion" as being a crime, collusion is simply association, and we have freedom of association.

The only thing you can't do with Russia, is pass them classified material related to national security, which has to be specially classified, by executive order.

So lets say people on the right colluded to out the Democrat Party's dirt in public, using a variety of means, maybe Russians, Wikileaks, what have you, none of that is a crime, because the Democrat Party's political dirt is not classified material by executive order, so outing it into the public sphere is constitutionally protected free speech, otherwise known as Whistleblowing.

As I said, the DNC hack is only a political "crime", and so not protected by executive order.

Whatever else Mr. Ivan is doing, is not central to the point, he remains an adversary, and we are in fact the only ones deterring him, the Bernie Bro Democrats are going commie on their own without any help from Mr. Ivan.

Computer theft is a felony. There is no executive order protecting felonies. Zero.

Bank fraud is a felony. Identity theft is a felony.

If you conspire with people committing felonies to affect an election  is also a felony.

Also bear in mind, Cold War is informal.

Russia is not actually a formal enemy of the state, unless and until Congress designated them as by formal declaration of war under the Hague Convention.

That is why we call Orange Force an "adversary" rather than a "enemy", Mr. Ivan is not an enemy unless and until he crosses the Article V line in force.
