Yes, but the government BUILT them. Meanwhile, the railroads own their tracks and systems because they built them.

Who repairs, maintains, upgrades, constructs, and services them? Private construction companies. It's the same concept.

Given the poor condition of Canadian roads and highways this is not a very convincing argument.

Competing in telecom right now means you need to own your infrastructure or lease it from a company. Telecom infrastructure costs millions.

Billions, actually. Many billions.

There is no way to innovate

I think if you compare the situation with cell phones and internet today vs what it was like ten or twenty years back you would be hard-pressed to deny there has been major changes. And as the telecom companies make preparations for 5G there is going to be even more.

How do you innovate an industry that has an extremely costly barrier of entry and is very regulated?

The problem with Canadian telcom is it costs too much, not that it doesn't innovate. Since government controls the costs, they can simply examine US and European telcoms and negotiate a more equitable pricing system with the Canadian telcoms.

Thank you for your response.

This is taken out of context. " Who owns the roads and highways? The governments do. Who repairs, maintains, upgrades, constructs, and services them? Private construction companies. It's the same concept. Would you argue they aren't construction companies because they don't own buildings and infrastructure? No. There is specialized knowledge and service there. A telecom company is more than just service. " It was a rebuttal to their point.

As for the poor condition, that is debatable. Quebec - certainly awful. Depends on the province.

Telecom can costs millions and billions, depending on the scale and scope of work being discussed.

The telecom progress you mention is the world becoming more modern, it is not a proof that it was thanks to the telecom companies being innovative. With the Canadian telecom companies desire to ban VPN and net neutrality, we find it hard to believe that Canadian telecom cares about true innovation.

Will your party be the same as every other party with a whip who will tell your elected members how to vote or will they actully represent their constituants?

Hello,

We are the Syncretic Party.

We're a political group looking to gain registered federal status.

Our website is  https://www.syncretic.ca

Looking forward to your feedback.

Syncretic Party

Sorry, but I am a Maxine Bernier Peoples Party supporter. You would do well to give them a shot rather than trying to start up another new party. The media may give you five minutes of free advertisement but that will be the end of hearing about your party. The object of the political game today is to get rid of that drama feminist gueen prime mistake of ours . That fool has done enough already to wreck this country. The PPC appears to be the only party out there that wants to get rid of corporate welfare and increase competition not to forget to mention many other great ideas to try and make Canada great again. The conservatives are just another liberal party dressed up in conservative clothing. Scheer is a politically correct wimp.

Anyway good luck because you will need all the luck you can get. :D

Lighten up, Francis.

This is what democracy looks like, it's not a panacea, merely a peaceful transfer of power.

And stop trying to bring the morale down,  Ducimus.

In Canada moral is almost down to the ground. Another five years of this PM misfit and moral in this country will hit rock bottom. Does any Canadian today have anything good to say about Canada other than that they are glad to be Canadian? 64,000 criminal illegals have entered Canada illegally already in the last coupe of years with more on the way and no one here appears to care. This should be one of the main big topics here but it is not. We are being invaded by people from many chit hole countries and that appears to be okay with Canadians.

Pathetic indeed.

Well then we need to get the Royal Canadian Regiment to go protect our borders from the hoards of invaders from the 3rd world who have entered Canada illegally by the tens of thousands these past few years. Go get off their asses and go do something good for Canada for a change and defend this country from invasion. Right now we have no lead nor a leader. :(

They don't call it The Royal Canadian Regiment for nothing; we report to the Commander-in-Chief at Buckingham Palace.

If you have an order in council with her signature on it, we will stand to as directed.

This is somewhat difficult to answer. The purpose of organizing something like a political party is so that individuals with common beliefs can band together to take action in what they believe in. At the same time, Canadians vote for political parties because they feel those political parties best serve their interests. If you are an elected member of Syncretic, you obviously have to believe in the core values. It isn't necessary for you to agree with everything but you must believe in the core values. In addition, as elected members its important that you represent the best interests of your constituents and if they (cons.) voice their beliefs the elected members should listen. That being said, we believe that one of the bigger issues with "democracy" is that sometimes people are not informed. Nuclear power was new technology in the 50s and it was something that would have revolutionized our societies. People like the member "Rue" have a misconception about nuclear power. If we had pursued it aggressively, this whole climate change/global warming issues would have never occurred. The main people fighting it were environmentalist backed by the oil industry. Ironic.

To give your question a more direct answer, it's more important for us for the constituents to be represented than to whip votes since the core values of the Syncretic Party is based around "Canadians and Country first, always".

Yes. We believe you are either Canadian or you are not. We think many of the Acts surrounding First Nations need to be reworked. We want a unified country, under the same flag. We don't believe anyone should get special treatment. The issue is that it is a very sensitive topic. We think it's something that needs to be addressed gradually, starting with accountability:

Maxime (m not n) Bernier is Libertarian-lite. He is against net neutrality and he believes that climate change/environment is something that should be left up to the provinces. While we believe his heart is in the right place for many things, his view points on some issues are fundamentally at odds with the greater good. As a libertarian-lite, he believes in free markets and minimal government. Are you okay with the government reducing/abolishing standards and safety guidelines in the name of profit? We are not interested in going back to lead paint and asbestos in buildings.

It's one of our main topics but the issue is no one seems to be interested in supporting us. It's unfortunate that so many Canadians are upset with the status quo, but refuse to pitch even a single dollar in helping someone, anyone, to change the system. Look at how many people have viewed this thread and responded. If each one of them had donated even 1 dollar, we would have more momentum to try and change things. We've come to find that Canadians love to complain but hate taking action.

Thanks to everyone for your input.

Canada is not a People's Republic and the Royal Canadian Regiment is not a People's Army.

Not even America is a People's Republic, the American military doesn't answer to the public, they only answer to the constitution.

In Canada, the Queen is simply the constitution, so it's practically the same.

1. The oil industry backs the environmental movement because they cannot be hurt be more environmental protection regulations and rules because they have plenty of money to be able to afford to apply and pay for those regulations. Regulations does not hurt them but it does hurt the small timer who may not be able to afford and enforce all the environmental regulations in their company that is being forced on them. They may in some cases have had to close up shop because of so many environmental regulations which they could not afford to pay for. It's always about and for big business. It's always tough luck for the small timer.

2. It is not only the Indians that are getting special treatment it is also all those new legal and illegal so called refugees that get all the attention these days. Now Trudeau and his Somali immigration minister are now going to allow hundreds(more like thousands)of free slaves in Libya to come to Canada. How is that for a great deal for you and me and thee? Wakey-wakey time.

3. As you said already Canadians will vote for anyone who pretty much has the same ideas and thoughts as they have which is why I find that Maxine Bernier comes close to where I stand on many issues of the day, especially immigration and diversity. No other new or old political party dares to even mention those two words. Your party probably will not either.

4. I doubt very much that Bernier will be reducing or abolishing and standards and safety guidelines implemented especially when it comes to lead and asbestos. Lead and asbestos have now joined the dinosaurs and are now pretty much gone extinct.

5. Canadians in most instances do not care all that much about anything. They are all mostly just sitting back and watching their country come to an end without a whimper. It's mostly just about them and their money. The only time Canadians get all upset is when something effects them then they go haywire. I do have to blame most of that who cares less attitude on the politicians and the media who do not keep Canadians well informed on real issues like immigration. The media mostly prefers to focus on Trump instead and just likes to stir up news and chit about Trump as if any Canadian really gives a shit as to what Trump says or does. I certainly do not care what Trump says or does. Why should they also? Trump is not their President. I have donated my money now to the People's Party of Canada. You are too late for me now. But good luck. Maybe we will see your party at the next election debates. :)

They back the environmental movements that work in their favor - such as the anti-nuclear movement in the 50s and 60s.

Even I will have to wait and see what Bernier will really do if he ever did become the PM of Canada. So far his program and promises looks good. Will your party follow thru on your promises and programs if ever elected to run this country? We both must wait and see. Indeed, Canada and Canadians are in for the long haul. Her Majesty must remain above the fray, so that I can remain fiercely  loyal to my sovereign, no matter what the government says or does.

If Her Majesty intervenes for anything other than a constitutional crisis, Canadians might turn on her, so she must not do that, so as to not imperil the rule of the British Crown.

Her Majesty defends the right.  Through her Parliamentary Supremacy.  If it is not clear who has Supremacy, she will decide who her Executive is.

That is how the Queen intervenes, but only that, she is Commander-in-Chief, but not a combatant commander, she directs that the Executive choose her combatant commanders for her.

She does this in the name of her ancestor, William of Orange.   As an Orangeman, I defend the House of Orange by its heirs and successors.

Also, I would caution, if Her Majesty could intervene, she is likely to side with the UN convention, and thus direct the RCR to assist the refugees rather than waylay them.

So careful what you wish for.

Treaty settlements are the biggest economic driver our area has seen in years...decades in fact.

It's interesting how the elite and the Queen work together to screw we the people. Working with the UN is a crime against humanity in itself. The UN has never solved anything. They only screw things up more. For the Queen to side with the enemy, the UN, is a crime. I wish that the UN would be abolished. That is what I wish for. Maybe my wish will come true. :D
