Foreign interference in Canadian Elections? Don't believe the hype.

What would be more of a factor in how people vote in the next election :

1 - Trudeau's handling of the SNC-Lavalin case

or

2 - The Russians. Or whoever they try to pin foreign meddling on.

The answer is #1, but the question implies a bad assumption.

What's that bad assumption?

You have framed a binary choice where it didn't exist.

You'll need to clarify what you mean here.

I would say that you framed the question as though the strategy was a binary choice between two options.  You likely didn't mean to communicate it that way.

So what is the confusion? Which one would have more of an influence on the next time you vote in the next election?

Shouldn't there be another option in between the two you've posed?

1.5 - How Sheer would have handled the case.

My assumption is that there still would have been a case to handle and that voters might reward Conservatives for being better at getting away with corruption - in their capacity as better more pragmatic managers of the economy of course.

Well I guess my notion is that all of that will be reasons that will influence the next election over any suspected 'foreign meddling'.

Always count on the government to try and convince you that it's some foreigners that could sway an election and not the fact that they are a bunch of complete incompetent idiots who are no less corrupt than certain corporations they prop up.

The first one - but why do you ask ?  Foreign meddling can actually exacerbate the divisions from the SNC Lavalin scandal.

Personally I'd be a lot more vigilant about domestic meddlers trying to mess with my perception.

You figure it'll be too much to hope there'll be a frank election campaign over the merits of corruption, generate the consensus that its as good as greed for the economy and get on with choosing who's better at it?  I know I'm not holding my breath.

More than domestic meddling?

IMO the biggest concern we have is Liberal interference in our election.

If I were the leader of any country outside of Canada,be it an ally or an adversary , I would definitely want someone like Trudeau being Prime Minister. My line of reasoning is that Trudeau is weak and easily taken advantage of by other leaders.

I guess because you expect them to win again.

You don't know what I expect to happen right now...

Considering the Liberals are going to be monitoring and deciding Under a “critical election incident public protocol,”  when an incident is egregious enough to warrant going public in the midst of a campaign, or whatever, we have good reason to be concerned.   The Liberals plans to ' safeguard' people on social media should have us all concerned.
