Sanders has put out an amazing tweet today with the line :  "If the environment were a bank it would have been saved already."

He is 100% correct!

haha,  why did he say environment, not climate? May be Obama will buy a beachfront house don't help the narrative:lol:.

Actually, I think he is wrong. US had been torpedoed foreign banks to create crises.

Kimberly Klacik...my new heroine.  I'm thinking President Kim one day.

Disgusting.  It’s time Democrats denounced this behaviour instead of encouraging it.  Who are the fascists again?

You're so predictable in stretching the definition of 'racism' to encompass every judgement made against anyone who isn't white and Christian. It's the soft liberal bigotry of low expectations all you

You are missing the point. Troubled banks and financial institutions get bail outs. Caring about the environment means nothing to the current status quo that runs in the US government.

lehman brothers was down, no gov't $.

Lehman and Bear going down was one of the greatest moments in the history of the stock market.

Proof that the underlying free market works, and it is only the intervention of government that it is distorted.

Other investment banks would have sprung from the ashes as phoenix, creative destruction,  if the government had not been picking winners and losers.

Bernanke was operating in good faith, he was the one chosen by the Best & Brightest to be the man in charge of knowing what to do in case of a Depression.

He split the baby, which is an understandable impulse, but hey, nobody ever said he was Napoleon Bonaparte, he was subject to political pressure which induced him to fudge it instead of letting the market find a price and then have faith for it to reorder itself by creative destruction, without having to resort to the moral hazard of a policy stimulus incited monstrous global debt bomb, although Bernanke did not say they should make QE the new normal, it was just supposed to be an immediate action short term measure to get the cash flowing again, so they ain't even following Bernanke now, they are in totally uncharted leverage waters.

you know, now I don't know is he dumb, good faith or alternative  Anyway, I think the dangerous with Bernie is not his progressive left view. It is his kumbaya tunnel vision, very easy to manipulate.

Are you talking Bernie Sanders?

Sanders would at least incite another market crash soon as it was clear that he was going to win

More of an irrational panic than anything, since Sanders couldn't really get any of his commie stuff past the congress and the courts.

None the less, corrections are a good thing, anything that incites a correction at this point is a boon in of itself.

Worst sort of communist, lives by the free market while cynically extolling the virtues of Marxist-Leninism to the young, impressionable and naive.

I can only respect a Communist who has the courage of their convictions to liquidate millions as necessary to acheive the World Socialist Revolution.

The dogma which Sanders propagates is called Socialism in One Country, which is actually a policy founded by Stalin as a way of throwing World Socialism under the bus.

Fear not though, as I said, he wouldn't have any hope of getting any of that commie crap past congress and the courts, so he's selling tickets to heaven which will never be redeemed.

Even the Democrats wanted to stop Bernie Sanders, robbing him of any chance at winning the 2016 party nomination in favour of Hillary Clinton.

The "progressives" cannot win the presidency by themselves...not enough votes in contested states.

The funny thing is that Sanders would win 2016. Dems +  "progressives"  should beat Trumps + Rep  :P

Nope.....Sanders would have lost to Trump in 2016 too.

Quote

Why did Sanders underperform Clinton significantly throughout 2016—first in the primaries, and then with his candidates and initiatives in the general? If Sanders’ platform and candidates had lost, but performed better than Clinton, than that would be an indicator that perhaps he was on to something. If they had actually won, then he could really claim to have momentum. But instead, we saw the opposite result: Sanders’ platform lost, and lost by much bigger margins than Clinton did. It even lost in states Clinton won big. What does that tell us about the future of the Democratic Party? Well, perhaps we need to acknowledge that the Bernie Sanders’ platform just isn’t as popular as it’s made out to be.

No, Bernie Sanders Would Not Have Beaten Trump

you may be right. Having said that, it really depended on how many modest dems came out to vote for Sanders. The reps came out and they voted for Trump.

Bernie Sanders' progressive socialism does not translate into enough campaign contributions or voters.   The Democratic party is not all progressive socialists...that is just a minor wing of the party going back to losers like Sen. George McGovern in 1972.

The U.S. is a conservative nation compared to many others, with Democrats being just slightly left of Conservatives in Canada.  (Blue collar Democrats ran to Ronald Reagan in the 1980's.)

Bottom line:   Both Trump and Sanders made lots of noise...but Trump did a much better job of consistently selling his message.

Biden's a right off.  He can't string words together. Kind of like how Bush Jr stumbled on many many many words.

Bush won two presidential elections. Writing Biden off in the Democrat Primary is wishful thinking, or at least jumping the gun.

I will not write him off (China does not write him off too ).

If he is POTUS, he will win both EC and popular vote. US will be unrest in the first 2 years. Progressive will make an-all out effort to turn the country to the left (gun ctl, open borders, green new deal, medical care for all ...), and modest will want to roll back to pre-trump day (WTO, peace talks, UN, Globalization ....). May be USA will let China has mask aligner finally since Trumps burned theirs. On the other hand , Reps have their own soul searching.

At the end, who will be his VP?

If he picks AOC, that would make for maximum lulz, unfortunately I don't think Biden wants to lose almost every state, but it's hilarious to think about.

For me, it would be Bernie Sanders. First, it shows the Dems are as conservative as Reps, still an old white men club.  Then, we have Biden, Bernie, Pelosi, Schumer (??) ... vs AOC+3

Bernie would be a terrible pick, Biden needs to run to the center in the general election, not the left. Would be a very humorous pick though, just like AOC.
