Eventually, even the slaves clinging to Archaic British Imperialism will be freed. The Canadian Iron Curtain can't hold American freedom out forever, no matter how Anti-American reactionary they are, that attitude will just bring down the Iron Curtain even faster.

It's Americanizing at a pace, it's just becoming the farm team for the Democrat Party.

It's in conflict with its Britishness,  but it's stuck with it none the less, Canada is not a republic,  the Indian Act is apartheid,  the monarchy is the unpinning of everything, while the people become Americans, so the tidal forces of American freedom are already rendering it asunder, slowly but surely.

It's a long war, but American freedom is pretty adept at winning long wars, especially when it's enemies are a bunch of Commies trying to erect an Iron Curtain to keep out American freedom, see the Cold War.

Things accelerated rapidly with Free Trade, which is not actually free trade, but it is market integration, so instead of being an east west trade federation, it's now ten provincial north south trade federations with the Americans, competing against each other, cutting each others throats, to aqcuire a bigger share of the arbitrage pie flowing from the Flight to Quality.   The entire Canadian economy is an arbitrage play on the Flight to Quality, there's no unified national interest left, Keep the Americans out failed, Keep the French in is teetering, Keep the Indians down is unsustainable.

The United Kingdom itself is being torn apart by American Freedom, England is Americanizing, Scotland is pulling away towards the Continent.

This is why many fear American freedom.

It's force.  It's not safety.  It's not secure. It's change.   America is constantly renewing itself, constantly in flux, a churning Hurly Burly.

The British Empire is not made to take the pounding, it's archaic, the structure cannot hold under the push and pull towards and away from America.

It's inciting bizarre distortions, like the Liberals trying to play both sides of the fence with the Americans and Chinese to try to prop the Potemkin Village up.

The left in Britain and Canada have suddenly become opposed to free speech, which is a far right position,  but free speech is American freedom so the left are invoking the power of the monarchy to shut people up.

Also, if Canadians want less violence being used against peaceful protesters, banning speech is not the way to get there. The more speech that is banned, the more justifications the police state has to crack down on peaceful protests and the silenced voices will be more willing to resort to violence.

Don't be like the Chicoms, protip.

The Chicoms are infiltrating Canada and co-opting the government, so the Hong Kong effect is happening here as well, and the Chinese will soon be able to use the Canadian speech banning to their interests, the puppet masters in Beijing will be able to shut Canadians up using Canadians own speech banning laws against them.

Hong Kong falling into the grips of the communists is an annoying set back when it comes freeing all the slaves everywhere.

RIP Milton Friedman's Hong Kong, you were cool while you lasted.

This is why your real nation state in Westphalian terms is UKUSSA.

A Westphalian state protects you from the Chinese, Canada is not capable of protecting anything, so the Special Relationship between the British Crown and the Washington National Security Consensus is the only national security actually in effect.

Without UKUSSA muscle to back them up, even a bastion of freedom like Milton Friedman's Hong Kong couldn't protect itself from the Chinese, and that was it's undoing. Tragic.

Indeed, Hong Kong was backed up by a trip wire force of British Gurkha's with that tripwire attached to the UKUSSA Joint Strategic Nuclear Deterrent.

When the British withdrew, it was just a matter of time, frogs in boiling water, 2047 be damned, Beijing had them at their mercy immediately.

Of course at the time the pixie dust was that the commies weren't the commies anymore and they weren't going to backslide into Stalinism because End of History blah, blah, blah.

So it was all good.

Until Xi JinStalin came along.

Now they're screwed.

I hope Ontario will take as many Hong Kong immigrants as they can get their hands on, so they can help move Upper Canada towards being more like Hong Kong.

Chaos is a ladder.

I'd take them all.   I would take all of them at once, right now.   Emergency evacuation.

Because they are really f*ckin' screwed, they don't even realize how screwed they are, you can tell, because as admirable and brave as these protests have been, they are not as desperate as they should be, considering the monstrous dystopic Orwellian Panopticon right out of a Phillip K. Dick novel, which is going to descend on them.

Trump should whip the left up into an outrage about it, pretend like he's against it, using his trolling superpowers, so they start demanding it real loud like, then pull the bait and switch and "cave" to them.

Now that would be some 4D Chess, right thur.

This would be a place where Canada would be better suited to the task than the Americans, a direct American Chinese confrontation would incite the Chinese to slam the gates down and go into a defensive crouch, just like the Iron Curtain in Europe, at some point the Bamboo Curtain is going to come down, Beijing is not just going to let people leave en masse, so there's a window of opportunity right now, to move before the Chinese can get set, like West Germany before the wall went up.

That's why the Soviets put the wall up, to keep people in, but it wasn't up until 1961, so there was a period there where, if the Germans made their move, they escaped.

So rather than alert the Chinese that there is a move coming, you start convincing people to get the eff out,  right now, don't attract attention, just leave.

Those who stay behind, sayonara, but stop protesting now, because Stalin is making lists no doubt.

As long as they are just words, I would say so.

Well people have killed themselves over bullying, which was just mean words. The problem with your OP, which you appear to have edited, is you seem to think that absolute ideas can stand, and you lament that they cannot. Welcome to reality.

Mean words should not be banned just because some oversensitive people kill themselves if they hear them.

I edited the title.

Yeah, I know about the bullying.  If you want to jail people for bullying it would take some evidence of intent, I think.  You can't jail someone for calling someone else a fat bastard at school, unfortunatekly.

F*cking Canadians and their speech banning, they're like speech banning zombies, f*ck Canada.

Land of the red herring, home of the prigs, it's no wonder this place has turned into a banana republic.

People in Hong Kong trying to resist the communists, Canadians actively seeking China's help to become communists.

No doubt Huawei has the technology to make sure nobody bullies anybody anymore, well, except for the thuggish police state that is, they can still be bullies, for your own good.

No one suggested jailing for that. Nonetheless speech is powerful, and your ideas about letting expression run wild  and free have been refuted with examples by me and others. Absolutes cannot stand.

Of course they can't.  No slander, no incitement, no shouting "shooter" in a crowded Walmart, etc.  And nothing has been refuted, least of all by you.

The Queen's Peace can impose upon far more than that, anything that violates the Queen's Peace can be silenced in Canada, it's an Iron Curtain against American Freedom, since 1812

See the root of it, in the case of the Swastika, the Queen doesn't ban it based on what it is, but rather the disorder it may cause, the ban is in the name of Peace over freedom.

Quite sure that I and MH have given you clear examples where your theories no longer work. Yet you have not responded on those points.

Easy to ignore that which we disagree with, eh?

I'd include jailing politicians who lie to that list, failing that however I'd smack 'em a shovel.

No, you didn't.  And neither did MH.  That's not to say you didn't make the points.  I just disagreed with them instead of ignoring them.

That doesn't mean that your second sentence isn't correct in some cases.
